Is this guy an idoit? why not just sell Taiwan weapons to begin with? The PLA would think twice if they aren't already. Taiwan does not need US assistance in fighting the PLA. They have 200 km plus of difference between them. Its like Japan.
The Taiwanese military has taken into consideration that the USN would not be there. Hence the ASM they have and are getting more of.
What the CCP can do is destroy the economy of Taiwan, something they can do with missiles or by leveraging their own economy.
Second, this guys' rant is dubious at best. A potential to save trillions? There is no war, and there is no potential to save trillions even if the USN acts.
The only thing that would hurt the US economy is economic sanctions on China. Weather they go to war or not.
PS some one should tell this guy about debts, its not the military alone thats putting the US in debt but the lavish unsustainable lifestyles the US has because of their cheap access to resources.
China is providing the US with a solution of getting out of debt while this helps the Chinese economy grow. Its called globalization.
It is the American mentality of materialism and savings accounts that need to change.
