Not exactly. The Konkani spoken by the Hindus is similar to Marathi. While the Konkani spoken by Muslims has some Arabic incorporated. The Konkani spoken in Goa (by the Christians)is peppered with Portuguese. Then there is Konkani spoken by Saraswats in the coastal area of Karwar which has substantial amounts of Kannada incorporated. Little wonder that Konkani never really had a script of its own.

In Karachi, I heard some (a little) of the Marathi Konkani being spoken. Since I can speak Marathi that was a very pleasant surprise.

We have Hindu relatives and Muslim ones and we all speak the same kind.
