Excessively worshipping past powerful dynasties is a sign of political stagnation. On that note, I like Ming because early on it is much like China today and even fought its own "Korean War". It had the largest population on earth in the 16th century; half of all humans were Chinese. It was militarily powerful enough to crush Vietnam, Japan and Mongols like a bug with the most advanced weapons of its time.
But later on, it degenerated due to weak currency controls, natural disaster, economic stagnation, and internal traitors.
Whether today's China can avoid becoming "late Ming" and being conquered by foreign barbarians is a question.
