Titanium treasure found on Moon

the major cost will be the constant supply of oxygen- even for few persons- its will cost millions / hour-
imagine a space shuttle goes to get titanium of moon and comeback with it.and then Russia,China and then it goes to UAE and Saudi Arabia threw Karakorum highway from China:lol:

.
And that is one reason why we are pursuing space mission in moon . Wait for 2013 ,Chandrayaan 2 will be launched with rover

yea dude , :yahoo::yahoo: i guess ISRO wasn't looking for alien life forms on moon ..,;)

Scientific Objectives
The Chandrayaan-1 mission is aimed at high-resolution remote sensing of the moon in visible, near infrared (NIR), low energy X-rays and high-energy X-ray regions. Specifically the objectives are
To prepare a three-dimensional atlas (with high spatial and altitude resolution of 5-10 m) of both near and far side of the moon.
To conduct chemical and mineralogical mapping of the entire lunar surface for distribution of mineral and chemical elements such as Magnesium, Aluminum, Silicon, Calcium, Iron and Titanium as well as high atomic number elements such as Radon, Uranium & Thorium with high spatial resolution.

.
unless its pure titanium strewn across lunar surface...bringing back ore will never be feasible.

.
And who is exactly going to reap the profits of the Moon resources?? The US alone?? Doesn't the moon belong to the whole earth or is it US property?? is WW3 going to happen ON the moon or OVER the moon.... Or will it be WW4??

I heard that one of the reasons behind India's Chandrayaan project is for India to have claim to moon's resources if moon ever get colonized. Indian Flag was already planted on Moon surface by Moon Impact Probe on14 November 2008.

.
Not i at present but in future its possible to mine moon and distant planets with advancement in in technology.

Oil was on earth for millions of years but man only exploited it on a large scale starting in the late 19th century. So who knows what future will bring? May be we will establish mining outposts like that in Avatar movie.

.
One serious Breakthrough would result in a New Space Race!

Only Countries with Space Faring Capabilities and capable of rockets with reaching the Lunar Orbit, Soft Landing Capability on the Moon, Returning to the Earth (Only Apollo Missions and Luna 16 and Luna 17 has done that) will be able to compete!

. . . .
since there is water on the moon the supply of oxygen shouldn't be a major concern.
i think its not truly proved

well is oil present on moon or has usa try to find it anybody

Bro add Pakistan tooo

Well Pakistanis disses US for lusting after oil, but the ugly truth is that every country with a decent industrial base lusts after oil but US is the only country that can dictate terms and conditions to a oil producing country as they have the military power to do so.

your right but not for too long i wish next super power come from asia

The moon has low gravity.

So if we had a mining base on the moon, maybe some kind of large electromagnetic "catapult" could throw mineral shipments back into the Earth's orbit. It would be a thousand times cheaper than using a rocket. But probably still not cost effective enough.

Especially considering how heavy the mineral shipments would be.

Whether the super power comes from East or West , they will need oil and will go to any length to secure it for themselves.

But how will you recover it from Earth's orbit. If allowed to free fall, it will either burn up on reentry (if its small) or crash to earth (if its large).

Calculate it so that the shipment will fall into an ocean, and recover it from there. Like they used to do with the astronauts, with multiple parachutes attached to the re-entry vehicle, designed for a water landing.

It still doesn't seem cost effective though. It would take a lot of energy to catapult such a heavy mineral shipment off the lunar surface in the first place.
