Turkish agency to provide food to 300,000 Mexicans

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has established two greenhouses in Mexico which will provide food to 300,000 people in a year, the state-run agency said on Monday.

The greenhouses were established in Iztapalapa district of Mexico City, where migration from rural areas and inadequate public services have rendered a large population marginalized, according to a statement.

The vegetables produced at the greenhouses will be distributed to needy families.

Education on vegetable cultivation will also be provided to women, it added.

My thoughts initially was why Mexico. They have a bigger GDP, bilateral trade is about $1billion, and there are places closer to home which could do with these greenhouses instead. Also I'm sure Mexicans themselves feel they can make their own greenhouses and don't need the "charity".

I would like to know what the costs were. And apart from those Mexicans involved in the project, would any of the 300 thousand even know the food they were getting was from a Turkish agency.

We have planty areas where we could use greenhouse for making money in Central Anadolu don't we invest on that instead of only using them for producing corn and so on wich gives low profit

Mexico is one of the biggest agricultural producers in the world. People there are feeding themselves plus they export a lot of the fruits and vegetables they produce to America and Canada. Mexico is also a pretty big country with a huge GDP and a much bigger economy than Turkey but TIKA decided to build greenhouses for the Mexicans...

Instead of wasting resources (and stealing a lot of them in the process) on building farms and greenhouses in Mexico our prescious Government could have invested those money in Turkey’s crashing agricultural sector.

PS I am getting sick of all the absurd news and things that happen in Turkey on a daily basis... After the elections they better rename it to Absurdistan too.

There is no info on the expense details of the TİKA. The total it spent last year 8 Billions USD. No inspection, no control.. nothing..

Tika, Afad, Toki, Municipalities, even Ministries are being used for making their relatives and friends rich.

For example, Toki had been established in order to build cheap buildings and sell it at very cheap prices to "dar gelirli vatandaş".

Why would TOKİ build high end Malls and residences ?

Construction business is where the big money are made and the biggest bribes and corruption is... this is why Erdogan pushes hard to build all those big projects with State Guarantees for the Companies from his circle and end prices much higher than the market ones.

Give all projects to those close friends around you. Give them nice plots on cheap prices, provide them with tax incentives and cheap credits from State banks and that’s not even the best part. Most of the money stealing is done with a simple pen by an accountant and a lot of state protection. Hundreds of thousands of smaller and bigger parasites are feeding off Turkey’s flesh...

Only God knows how many tens of billions are hidden in off shore bank accounts but the scariest part is that half of the sheeple.... I mean people in Turkey- don’t even care about that and even are happy that their beloved Prophet and his Friends are stealing billions upon billions.
