Tiger appears at Margala walking track

ISLAMABAD: A tiger walked out on walking track-5 of Margala hills, however, according to CDA officials the hikers stranded on the track have been rescued.

Two citizens reported the presence of a tiger on the walking track-5 of Margala hills. Upon this police and rescue teams of CDA arrived at the scene and arranged for safe exit of the hikers.

Reports also say that the tiger was also seen three days ago. However, it caused no harm to the people.

I believe it is a Cheetah and not a Tiger. According to a report, this Cheetah is a femals and her cubs are also present near by.

I hope that dept of wild life in Pakistan will look after them as Cheetahs are becoming extinct.

We have such incidents at various places in every couple of months or so.

I think the problem is because of deforestation.

No. Here they catch those animals and send them back to center of jungle.

But it's like catching water from an overflowing tank and pouring it back. The animals on the edge again come in villages.

That happens when you distrub their natural Habitat thats why they come to cities or populated areas.

we also try to catch these alive but last year the Cheeta has killed many people specially women who used to collect woods in the nearby forests so everyone was so scared and the poor thing was atlast killed

Killing a man-eater animal is a right thing to do.

Animals usually don't attack humans. But when a tiger / lion / cheetah gets old, he cannot get his food has he has lost his speed and strength. Or if a human unknowingly comes near to a female animal with cubs, she takes it as a danger to her cubs. At such a time, if he sees a human being, he tends to attack. Once he discovers that humans are easy targets, he tries to find more humans and so becomes a man-eater. Also, these animals may get addicted to taste of human blood (dunno why).

Anyways, guys believe it or not, but I have personally encountered a Leopard in Margala Hills. It was about some years back when I along with two friends was coming down from Per Sohawa hotel in my friend's car when a small/medium size lepoard jumed right in front of us from one side of the road to another, and stood there staring at us for a while. It was such a scary experience, despite the fact that it wasnt a big Leopard and we were in the car, but I still remember the shivers that ran through our spines. We sped away. Now when i think about it, i feel that we should have stayed there and experienced this rarest moment a little more, but that day on that specific time, none among we three friends even though about it. We screamed, "LEOPARD....bhag bhag"....

every time i told this story to my family, they would make fun of me saying I am just making it up. Now probably they will believe me....

Well, AFAIK, leopards don't attack humans easily. Nor tigers or cheetahs. May be, because they are hardwired to kill animals walking on four legs.
