COLOMBO: Three Sri Lankan soldiers have been shot dead in the Tamil-majority peninsula of Jaffna, the army said on Friday, and one source said it may have been a case of murder-suicide.

The soldiers were the first to be killed on the far northern peninsula since the end of the Indian Ocean island's civil war in 2009.

The victims were on duty near a Hindu temple in the town of Chavakachcheri in Jaffna on Thursday night, military spokesman Nihal Hapuarachchi told.

A police source in Jaffna, who asked not to be identified, told that preliminary enquiries suggested two soldiers had been killed by a colleague who then turned the gun on himself. (AFP)

You know SL has for long had a pro PAK and China stance yet many non tamilian Indians sympathise with them.
Is it the blind hatred for dravidian tamil or just dumb thought that SL is a very friendly country. SL is a country waiting to stab India for China....Mark my words

i don't know whom you are accusing here, but the murderer seems to have been one among the army men who turned the gun on himself after shooting his collegues.
after all Karma has a bad way of showing its colors.

Three Sri Lankan soldiers killed in gunfight

Sri Lanka military says that three Army soldiers were killed in Jaffna Thursday night in a gunfight erupted among them due to a personal dispute.

The Military spokesman Brigadier Wimal Hapuarachchi said the three soldiers were on duty at the northern city of Jaffna when the shooting incident happened.

Initial inquiries have revealed that the shooting was due to a personal dispute among the three soldiers and that there was no third party involvement, the Army said in a statement.

Chavakachcheri Police are conducting further investigations.

Sri Lanka Army fulfills urgent need of blood at Jaffna hospital

At the request of Jaffna Hospital Authority, Security Forces - Jaffna organized a blood donation camp to fulfill the requirement of the hospital Blood Bank on last Friday.

The blood donation was organized by the 23rd Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, serving under the 512 Brigade Ariyalai, at a time the Jaffna blood Bank ran short of blood required by the patients waiting to undergo urgent surgeries.

Soldiers of the 51 Division and Police officials of the Jaffna station donate 332 pints of blood to the Blood Bank on Friday.

Deputy Director of Jaffna Hospital Dr. Sri Bhavaraja, Commander 511 Brigaded Colonel Wijendra Goonathilake, Commander 512 Brigade Colonel Ajith Pallawala, doctors, nurses and senior officers of the 51Division were present.
