Three personnel martyred as PMSA launch sinks in Arabian Sea

Not standard protocol. I agree.

But if they were in Indian waters and were lost, it is possible a call may have been made to seek help (in addition to SOP) as a sailor on lifejacket can survive for many hours in warm waters.

In any case the news has been supressed by pakistani media. Which is disappointing.

There is definitely the possibility that a call was made between the DGs but whether it lead to the rescue or it was made in the aftermath of the rescue is where I am skeptical, I am more inclined to believe it was a courtesy call for thanking the Indian Coast Guard.

The news has been carried by two publications so far, I'm certain more will pick up on it soon enough. Reports from Indian sources suggest that the gesture is being reciprocated by the release of many Indian fisherman being held in Pakistani jails. I'm glad to know that the whole thing will be ending well for them.

Very much possible.

In any case three lives were saved and that is a plus for the universe.

Not an issue...Thanks

I was not sarcastic, but could not comprehend the use of special forces to catch fishermen. Also a lot of money is spent on special forces teaching them how not to die, especially marine special forces.

The PMSA are not commandos or marines, they're paramilitary. Basically maritime police to protect Pakistan's EEZ from illegal fishing and bootlegging operations. Their role is more akin to police than military.

Three personnel of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) were martyred on Tuesday after their launch sank within Pakistani territorial waters off Indian state of Gujarat.

The incident took place while PMSA vessel, MSS Wahdat, was engaged in an operation against Indian fishing boats illegally entering into Pakistani waters. There were seven PMSA personnel aboard the ship.

Sources told Geo News that the PMSA ship collided with Indian boats, while taking them to Karachi, some 70 nautical miles off Jakhau port in Indian state of Gujarat.

The incident prompted Pakistani authorities to immediately call international helpline, after which nearby cargo ships as well as Indian coast guards' launches also came to the rescue of PMSA men aboard the vessel.

The joint rescue operation saved lives of three PMSA personnel, while three of them embraced martyrdom.

One of the seven PMSA men aboard the ship is still missing.

The bodies of martyred men were also retrieved.

NEW DELHI: Amid the sharp plunge in India-Pakistan relations over the death sentence to former Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, the Indian Coast Guard rescued two Pakistani marine commandos near the Gujarat coast today. Reports said the marines were giving chase to a group of Indian fishermen and their boat had capsized after hitting one of the Indian boats. Of the six Pakistani commandos said to be in the capsized boat, three drowned and one is missing. The bodies have been handed over to the Pakistani authorities.

The Pakistani boat was pursuing a group of fishermen in seven boats, who were working near the Gujarat coast. As the boat rounded them up and took them towards the Pakistani waters, one of the boats hit the Pakistani launch.

The Indian Coast Guard Ship "Arinjay", which was rushing to the spot, went to their rescue. Reports said Pakistani authorities later released the fishermen.
