Three Indian Firms Among World's Most Innovative Companies

Does Haldiram has its own microprocessor design and OS? Just wondering. :D

maybe the mdh superman uncle will design them... :enjoy:

tata consultancy services ( tcs )??

it is a software coolie company which last december removed 35,000+ people in a cruel manner just because the company doesn't have money to pay them salaries and so is downsizing.

and what innovation?? did tcs design a operating system or microprocessor or a new kind of computer or a new internet architecture or new kind of storage device or new method or computing?? what have they innovated??

Lol you even don't know what you are talking about. First of all decision of TCS lay off is challenged in court. Secondly every company fire non performers. Talk about IBM/Accenture/Dell etc etc. Thirdly look at the market value of TCS they have left MNC too far behind in terms of business and profit. I work for an IT MNC and know what HCL/TCS/INFY/WIPRO are doing to giant MNC's. IT reovlution in India is not that old. Hardly before 15 years we have not heard about computers forget about designing OS or processors but we have become a business hub if you talk about IT. Wait for another decade and you will see what we are upto. No point of comparing Amercian companies like IBM/Microsoft who started business in 60 or 70's to companies started in 2000.

.
yaar, because it is a old "computer engineering" company which supposedly has 319,000+ employees, most of whom will be "computer science" graduates or phds, newer and from old times... could none of them come up with the two items in the company's 40+ years of existence??
Because it is a business concern and it is not in the business of making OS like Microsoft. It caters the service sector. Probably the company could have considered that. But we are in no position to question that.

Right, I have seen many such 'social workers' aka 'communists' or 'plain lazy unemployed' who found such excuses to not work, I hope your family has enough income to let you remain a 'humble worker in the cause of green socialism specifically and socialism generally' all your life, otherwise you will end up miserably like most of your kind.

First of all decision of TCS lay off is challenged in court.

challenged by who??

a pregnant lady in madras for one, and i know that two trade union groupings, aituc and citu ( affiliated with communist parties and congress respectively ), connected with the employees to help them, because neither tcs has a employee union nor does the rest of the indian it industry.

Secondly every company fire non performers.

i repeat... indian it industry is a mostly services industry which does not encourage real innovation and whose time has almost ended.

I work for an IT MNC and know what HCL/TCS/INFY/WIPRO are doing to giant MNC's.

and what are they doing to giant mnc's??

IT reovlution in India is not that old.

doesn't matter when computer became cheaper for commoners... i am talking about big indian private "computer science" companies whose employees were indian graduates and phds.

tcs was started in 1968 and infosys was started in 1981, enough time for them to have contributed to computer science... but they didn't.

qnx company ( now owned by blackberry ), which has probably the best os is the world presently, the qnx v6, was started in 1980 with the first os version releasing in 1982... qnx in 2010 had 275 employees worldwide... how many employees did infosys and tcs have in that year ( or even now ) and what have they achieved??

i can similarly compare about intel, arm and the soviet/russian effort, elbrus ( which is now designed by mcst ).

It caters the service sector.

yes but why stay there if they can design a os or microprocessor and compete with qnx, microsoft and arm?? what is holding them back??

Probably the company could have considered that

they may have considered that once but their company is organized as a capitalist services company which will not risk even five salary-paid people to while away their time doing day dreaming and making possibility-diagrams on the white board... tcs will consider this "not efficient"... this is the story of the other big it companies too ( infosys, cognizant etc ).

right from the managers to the newest entrants will not be innovation-minded... each does what he or she is told so that their job is not taken away... each comes from the traditional indian college system where innovation is not encouraged and facilitated utterly but only degrees are earned so that jobs can be gotten.

no invention from India in 60 years: n. r. narayana murthy

Thirdly look at the market value of TCS they have left MNC too far behind in terms of business and profit.

i don't care about the market value of tcs and inphosys... what have they innovated other than bullshit??

i prefer not to be a busy bee but a gentle, independent cat... thank you for your concern. :enjoy:

I am also an engineer just like many other engineers in India. Joined IT to make money. I know how my father managed to pay for my education. I was not born with a laptop neither I was gifted an IPAD on my 5th birthday. I learned computers during my college and had a very clear mind to pick up a job. Engineers of my age almost have a same story. To be honest with you I never thought to make something of my own as my primary concern was to get a job but you sound to be very intelligent and have innovative ideas. Let's say I agree with you that we are dumb but for god sake please tell me what have you done ? Which OS have you designed or what processor are you designing ? Sorry to say that you sound more like a JNU jholachap who try to find fault in everything whereas whatever you think or your ideal world is far far away from reality. What is contribution of your ideal King Gaddafi other than sleeping with random girls and he is your hero and you want us to feel the same shit. Please spare us.

Which OS have you designed or what processor are you designing ?

i have been designing a clock-less ( asynchronous ) microprocessor which has a new set of long-length fixed-length instructions which number less than 25 and i am also designing a portable computer ( not tablet or laptop ) which will use this processor... the os will be for this environment... been on this project since 2009 and increasingly simplified the design as time passed... i first began with the design having a 400 mhz clock and a changed implementation of some intel x86 instructions to what is now.

though it will be easier to simulate the processor on a fpga, i thought cheaper will creating a emulator for that environment.

one member here, to spite me, calls this a "cockless" microprocessor.

Sir please do let me know once you complete this project. We as a nation will feel proud on your achievement.

thank you, my friend... it would be a honor to present a "made in india" computing innovation.

That status is called "Self-unemployed".....

but why are you defending the indefensible indian it industry?

What is indefensible? Indian IT companies have become big for their quality products and services. They are not into readymade off-the-shelf products, they make customized business solutions as per the needs of their customers, they make customized products, and they are successful in it.

and you are probably jealous that you cannot carefreely do what i can... yours is probably a life of monday to phriday as a wage-slave and then weekend of boozing among other fakes, and in case your wife demands a necklace you probably will look at discounted sale and still buy it via interest-based bank loan... this is the story of the majority of the archetypal modern young professional.

unless you are of money like our local rich man, the phd'ing "skull and bones".

but listen to this, you wouldn't have the courage to live my life. :enjoy:

huzoor, leave aside quality products, i ask you what products??

nobody in the world respects these people you so admire... no offense meant to the sensible/progressive/sensitive people through the below links, i only post them for awareness...
