KARACHI: Three high profile militants has been arrested on friday in Karachi. Police claim to have foiled a major terrorist attack planned for the 12th Rabi Ul Awwal celebrations.

Officials have told DawnNews that three suspects belonging to banned outfit Lashkra-e-Jhangvi have been arrested from Jamshed road.

Police claim to have recovered over 20 kg of high intensity explosives of Indian origin.

Investigators say the militants had been planning to carry out the attacks tomorrow.

Further investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, fool proof security arrangements have been made for Eid-e-Miladun Nabi in light of intelligence that Tehreek -e-Taliban Pakistan might be planning to target the holy processions in different cities of Punjab, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad. – DawnNews.

"suddenly world looks so different cheers to USA and Pakistan."

Looks can be deceiving. We've a long way to go all across the globe. This is really about connecting communities to the global economy and providing the kind of governance and opportunities we all want.

Millions in slums or hopeless villages, whether Karachi, Marjah, Gaza, Chiapas, or an American indian reservation means problems always and men (usually) willing to exploit that for personal power.

Somebody here wrote that there hadn't been a bomb attack in a few days. Call me when it's been a few years. Like fatman17 said about Bajaur, it's all aoubt delivering on the promises. Winning wars is easy compared to winning the peace.

Actually old news in that most have suspected this megalopolis offered what's needed to the taliban but the L.A. Times takes another look here-

It should also be acknowledged that each time Pakistan has tried to do something about these slums there has been a major uproar from human rights groups. The local Karachi government has been saying this for a few years now but they were dismissed as fabricated news and racially motivated against the Afghan refugees of Karachi.

"...each time Pakistan has tried to do something about these slums..."

Depends what Pakistan is trying to do, doesn't it? Like I said, winning the peace is the hard part.

Care to elaborate?
