PESHAWAR: Three soldiers were killed and many others were injured in a suspected suicide attack near Boya checkpost on Datta Khel road in North Waziristan Agency.

Official sources said security personnel were establishing a small checkpoint near Boya checkpost on main Datta Khel road when the suspected suicide bomber struck his vehicle into the checkpoint.

Subsequently, three Frontier Corps' soldiers were killed whereas several others sustained injuries.

Security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the area while Datta Khel road has been closed for traffic.

North Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) governed by tribal laws. An extremist insurgency led by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plagues the region and the area is known to be infested with militants, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed extremist organisations.

Suicide bomber kills four soldiers in N Waziristan
MIRANSHAH: A suspected Taliban suicide bomber rammed a truck into a military checkpoint on the border with Afghanistan on Monday, killing four soldiers, military officials said.

One military source said seven soldiers were wounded.

The assault, which took place in North Waziristan, came just hours after militants disguised as security forces stormed the country’s busiest airport in Karachi.

“The death toll could increase,” a military official told Reuters.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but the officials said that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were responsible.

Last week, a suspected suicide bomber attacked a security forces vehicle in Rawalpindi, home to army headquarters, killing five people including two officers.

Sunday night’s attacks on the airport in Karachi and an increasing number of assaults on military outposts in the last few weeks have all but destroyed prospects for peace talks between the TTP and the government.

In May, the armed forces launched their first major offensive in years against Taliban militants near the Afghan border after several rounds of government-led talks aimed at ending an insurgency failed.

Disagreements over how to handle the insurgency have marred relations between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the army, which has been pushing for a major military offensive.

And it is all thanks to the Govt. who failed to recognize the enemy & allowed these rented terrorists to regroup.

Yes they are surrounded & just recently attack helicopters have been ordered from Russia, but the ops needs to start now as a lot of time has been wasted thanks to the incompetent politicians.

Empty promises and a need for funds. They need the money and TTP provide for Afghan Taliban by taking on jobs for foreign agencies. Naturally supply routes need be kept open.

We cannot have a bunch of tribals wielding fake Ak47s protecting our border. This is armys job.

What idiot keeps their border open when a war is going on next door? It is the height of stupidity and we are paying the price now.

Deploy 150,000 troops in N Waziristan and lets hunt us some Taliban.
