Three CPEC projects hit snags as China mulls new financing rules

A leak is not anti-CPEC- it is shining sunlight on what has been known to be a secretive deal and process. Try not be more Chinese than the Chinese. Find out if this news is true. This is your country, your taxpayer monies.

Did you not read how China tried to fleece Pakistan on the Dam project, where Pakistan got out of the specific CPEC deal? $4 Billion, that's what China tried to bill you for $400 million dollar project. Holy loan sharking s__

More than the CPEC, China provides a security and diplomatic cover to Pakistan in global stage since last 70 years. I beleive, that has resulted in generation of tremendous respect and trust from Pakistan towards China( Which is supposed to be the case)...So even if there are some distraction in relation in couple of areas of Pakistan and China, Pakistan will do as being asked by China, till the point China will stand with Pakistan in its rivalry against INDIA...

You can't dismiss it because you did not like the truth. This is the problem with the overtly emotionally vested in China posters like you. The ruling party has not made public all the terms, it's that simple.
i am waiting for you mentioning a project where irregularity was done?
if you dont understand English i can speak in probably another common language

DOH! You are right 400 million seems to be incorrect because I was going off memory of an article posted here weeks ago. My bad. I now found the article where it says " Sources in Pakistan said international lenders were linking serious conditions with the provision of funding, and the project cost had reached $14 billion against the original estimates of $5 billion.

Some other articles say like you do- $3 billion is needed to build equity to get the 14 billion loan.

But you don't need to build equity for CPEC this is after all a China Pak economic deal. Yet Chinese were fleecing you still by charging you 12-14 billion (per the article linked) for a 5 billion dollars or less project. Even so_ it seems but has not been clearly spelled out by the Pakistani government that there were additional extremely burdensome terms attached to their 14 billion dollar price card. making it far worse.

again apologies for getting my numbers intially wrong.

It's all over, but you have your made in China lens on so you won't see it.
irregularity is not being discussed, overcharging is. Too clever by half.
It will generate 4500 MW electricity plus a huge reservoir to cope with irrigation and flooding dilemma. Worth every penny! The costs are high due to difficult terrain etc and reallocation of 105 km of Karakorum highway that would be submerged in the lake created by this dam.

Chinese are good in business. This is good project for Chinese

They have not cancelled projects..... some people are just overreacting. Last JCC meeting wasn't as fruitful because of political instability right now which may last till election next year.

Also remember out of 100+ CPEC projects, few might face delay.

Guys just ignore indians they are butthurt and have nothing to do thats why you find them here and spend their times finding news about other country and then argue about it. They are those people whom no one listen to them in their own country. They will stick to what in their little mind and stay that way. Indian lives start with Good Morning CPEC and Good Night CPEC.

Bad, bad, bad news. My concern all along about the CPEC was how would the massive interaction between Chinese and Pakistanis go. Although Pak/China relationship is old but it always has been limited to top tier limited number of officials. With CPEC came the mass contact on the ground. My concern was as mass contact takes place the Chinese might have second thoughts after they see the degree to which Pakistan has become hostage to religious radicals as seen in the recent Faizabad incident. This would have sent shivers in Beijing. It would raise the question that what is the $65 billion being invested in? A radical religious hell hole. Not exactly credentials for a investor, business friendly environment.

Hostage to religious radicals, my friend? I am sorry but Pakistan is not a secular state; it was created for preservation of Islamic identity and values in the subcontinent.

FYI: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-40961603

Allama khadim Hussain Rizvi is a former government official who lost his job for expressing his religious views. He refused any compensation and even the offer of employment to his son from the government after his removal.

Why do you think that Faizabad episode occurred? Because our government is a complete joke with total disregard of public sentiments and attempted to formulate a law that would raise a question mark on the validity of Muhammad (PBUH) being the last prophet of Allah Almighty.

CPEC is important in its own right but using it as a basis to demean individuals who are vocal against injustices and agenda of foreign-funded secular elements against the cause of Islam is foolish and convey a message that Pakistani individuals are more concerned about Chinese business-related practices than preservation of their values.

Faizabad episode did not affect CPEC in any shape or form. Chinese business-related practices and demands should be in question here.

I am not surprised Chinese are just being cautious at the moment with the political instability environment since the ouster of Godfather, Its Godfather who is causing all the instability with "Mujhe kyun nikhala" slogan, Since these buffoon ministers in power are all corrupt thieves why would the Chinese invest and the money ends up in corrupt mafia's who only how to loot and plunder.
