National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Sunday held a meeting of the counter-terrorism grid in Jammu and Kashmir in view of a major terrorist attack threat in the Kashmir Valley.

The NSA had gone to Kashmir Valley to meet the top officials of the counter security grid, following which the decision to deploy additional force was taken.
Sources said the terrorist infrastructure and ISI want to further vitiate the situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the successful organisation of the Panchayat elections in the state and the peaceful conduct of Amarnath Yatra. A record number of pilgrims have taken part in Amarnath Yatra.

As news of the deployment spread, the people in the Valley assumed that the troops are being deployed to arrest a fallout after the possible scrapping of Article 35A which gives the special status to state subject.
However, the current situation on the ground seems different as the news of the suspected terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir has come to light.
Special flights carrying CAPFs (Central Armed Police Force) have landed at Srinagar airport during the last three days, while convoys carrying additional companies of these forces are reaching the Valley through the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

Over 450 companies of CAPF (40,000 troops) are already deployed for the security of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and other security-related duties in the Valley at present.
