Thousands Protest at Wahga Border against India.

LAHORE: Thousands of farmers staged a protest against Indian water aggression at the Wahga border near Lahore and demanded of the government to raise the issue in the UN, a private TV channel reported on Sunday. The protesters, led by the Muttahida Kisan Mahaz, reached the zero line where they staged a protest against India for blocking the water of different Pakistani rivers. Activists of various non-governmental organisations (NGO) and political parties also participated in the protest to express solidarity with the farmers. The protesters also established protest camps against stoppage of water by India in violation of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty signed between India and Pakistan and also demanded the government to raise the issue in the UN. It is pertinent to mention here that the World Bank (then the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) is also a signatory of the
treaty as a third party. daily times monitor

India is not violating indus treaty. Entire world knows about it. I don't understand why they are protesting. May be off session for farming.

Anyway they are protesting, India should reduce water drastically then they know the difference. IMO

Yeah, so poor people who depend off of agriculture can die.

Who needs them, right?

Pathetic.

Poor people they do not know they have been taken for a ride. This is very common I believe most of the time when you see a large group of people protesting they generally do not have any idea what they are doing.

This is worst Pakistani government I have ever seen. Just to cover their faults they are blaming everything on India.

There is a mechanism to resolve differences and disputes in the Treaty. It has worked well so far. Why doesn't the Pakistani govt. utilize it and why doesn't it approach a neutral party if India is violating it? And no - the farmers must not die.

Because we haven't done anything to reduce the water supply. Frankly speaking, they need a bogeyman to keep the country intact.

Misled people can protest...and thats about it.....they should take this protest of theirs to a more accountable place....protest in Islamabad in front of Pakistan Parliament ...where Pakistan leaders sit and mismanage everything.....

Pakistanis could not manage their water resources and blame their fault on India ......

...okay "warrior"

An attitude such as this will ensure you will discover reality the hard way. What a pathetic thing to say. It really shows that people like you live in your own world and facts mean very little here.

India is not violating indus treaty. Water is not even violated during war time also. Pak gov should divert their problem on India by agitating general people against India.

Do you have any pak gov official statement link saying that india violated water treaty?
