This Vegetable Seller in Lahore Leaves His Shop Open All Night Because of His Faith in Pakistanis

That's interesting to know.

So do people take both as part of their meals as a norm (assuming they can afford) ? Making multiple curries should be painful for who ever is cooking.

Even Indians in general like meat over veggies.
Who doesn't? Vegetables are light foods, you can't expect to live all your life eating them, at a point you will have some meat. It's human nature.

.
Only rich have multiple dishes on their tables. Poor people usually have one dish which is either vegetable, lentils, or meats. Nope norms has nothing to do with cuisine.

Haha yes when there is more than one dish, it's painful. :p. Usually someone is there to help in this case.

But if you had the choice to select only one dish which one do you choose. A meat dish or a veggie Dish? What would be the % of population who would select a meat dish vs veggie dish (Not considering the financial or health aspects)

.
I have to have meat every third day of the week. I can't fulfill myself on greens unless it's end of times.

I've seen many old people take veggie over meat,
But, people who go out to eat, not once do they even think of ordering veggie dishes.
In my views, meat is the king of Pakistani cuisine. But as I said, people like vegetables too.

Some Hindus don't eat meat at all and still live.

Well if I have to pick one, I will most probably go with veggie.
Despite the financial status or health aspects, vast majority will go with meat. I think!

This market is walking distance from my house. If this guy starts selling cream as well then i can have free russian salad every morning.:partay:
But i would stop wasting money before i start stealing. I am a pathological waster.

I understand.

Hindu scriptures say the following would be the duration of the satisfaction when offering food to the departed souls of the forefathers.

Sesame seeds, rice, barley, roots and fruits - One Month
(If the quantity of sesame is copious then the duration would be inexhaustible.)

Fishes - Two Months

Mutton - Three Months

Hare - Four Months

Goat - Five Months

Bacon - Six Months

Birds - Seven Months

Deer - Eight Months

Ruru - Nine Months

Gavaya (Bovine) - Ten Months

Buffalo - Eleven Months

Beef - One Year
(Rice kheer with ghee is also considered equivalent to offering Beef)

Rhinoceros - 12 Years

Well if I have to pick one, I will most probably go with veggie.

Wow you are unique

Like me and my family:enjoy:

So we all talk about how the world is becoming increasingly intolerant and everyone is just selfish and distrustful of people.

The world isn’t as dark, however. There are people who still give us hope. People who are selfless, giving and caring. People who make us proud to call ourselves Pakistani.

This vegetable vendor in Lahore makes Pakistan worth living in

Muhammad Habib has a vegetable shop in Main Market Lahore. He runs a business that is an ordinary shop by day and a place run by the power of ‘trust’ and with the help of the neighborhood, at night.

Habib leaves his shop open yet unattended at night

Yes, absolutely unattended. The shop is left open during the night so those who find it convenient can buy vegetables during that time.

Arsalan Mahmood Khan works in the vicinity and he noticed the shop during his commute. He posted about the vegetable vendor on Facebook.

The shop runs on trust and faith, during the evenings
According to Arsalan, the community is honorable enough to write into the receipts book the amount of vegetables bought so the next morning when Muhammad Habib or his younger brother Farukh Javed, who runs the shop with him, can make record and collect the amounts due.

His customers are caring, more careful while measuring quantity in his absence and the sales go on even when he’s sleeping.

Arsalan talked to one of the customers at the vegetable stall and they told him that the Muhammad Habib does this to facilitate the neighborhood and he has absolute faith in the goodwill and honesty of his customers. The gesture is indeed returned.

The honesty and faith in community by the vegetable vendor gives us hope
It is a testament that there are still people in Pakistan who aren’t jaded by this big bad world. Thankfully, the community does not give him a reason to become cynical about the world, yet.

In his conversation with MangoBaaz, Arsalan said that he posted about this unorthodox arrangement on Facebook because of how amazing it made him feel.

His post reads, “no legislation, no rules for such sales or protection of stock. Not yet interrupted by any authorities, hence working outstanding. No theft reported. All is the mutual understanding between people.”

Maybe if we had Shariah law everyone would leave their shops open.

. . . .
Same here :p:

At least now I know that I am not alone here.:D

I thought I would end up odd man out here.

I am thinking living in Pakistan would be easier for people like us in Pakistan as there would be less demand for veggies and should be cheaper.

Hard to say. Instead of vegetables being cheaper, the relative cost of meat and vegetable would be less in Pakistan compared to India maybe.

That's a valid point too. May be India can export some meat to Pakistan in return for some vegetables. It would be a win-win deal.
