What's new

This is yet another ugly chart for China's demographic future

.
Very true.

PLus, a lot of Indian grads are not employable due to vast corruption in education system and cheating by students.

Your last line was very true.

But while China's education system is better than India, even it produces many graduates with unemployable skill sets in their intended industry.

. .
Very common in China.
Women neither at 50 or 55, in some cases even 45(for example Wuhan Steel).
And my mother's company bankrupted in 1990s.
She's been receiving money since then, and now turning 50, can officially get pension.
I bet she has been bugging you to make babies ever since

On a serious note, do they want to retire so early? Or do they simply take up another occupation.

Well, very very few times.

Jobs are jobs, no matter how you like it, it's a job, unless you just can't live without it.
I can't find any reasons myself if I have time and money to travel why I should work!!!

After retirement, they will dance in the park, look after grandchild (as you dream of), hang around with friends, travel....They are so fond of traveling, that no matter when you travel, they are always there, sometimes quite annoying when you think you have chosen the best timing during off-season.

They are everywhere even in some remotest corner!!!

I guess, before my settling down, my mother will spend most of her time out. She has been traveling with her retired friends and colleagues like every 1-2 months, in the city and around nearly every week. Crazy domestic tourism in China thanks to them!

I feel chinese visit India very less for Tourism .
Not just China I think.
Inbound international tourists to India are not that much.
Most people prefer East Asia, ASEAN, Europe and Australia.
Even my city, one in the interior that most people have never heard of, has direct flight to Japan, Australia, Roma, Paris, etc.
I have heard of some of my friends have been to Nepal and Sri Lanka, but never heard of to India. No direct flight may be one reason.

This is storm in a tea cup. China has one of the youngest retirement age in the world, with women at 55 and men at 60. As people live longer and healthier, extending the retirement age by 10 years is entirely possible. On top of that, labor intensive jobs are increasingly being taken over by automation. There will be a lot fewer job positions required for the same output 20 years from now.

If simply having high birthrate is the ticket to prosperity, Africa countries would be some of the world's strongest power.

I would say that goes without saying, isn't it. Good luck for your future, or at least the one that you will actually get. Japanese made a bet in 80s, they lost. You are also making a bet, we'll mostly know by 2030-35 on how that turns out.

Also, perhaps you would want to expound on this?
In fact, you are making a bet, the bet that China will like Japan, or say your wish.

Good luck for you too.
