What's new

This is now Earth's largest ship—so big it can lift oil rigs off the sea

for how long UK economy can survive on Rolls Royce engines alone, soon chinese will make good engines too

LOOL Chinese will take decades to even come close to building an engine comparable to Rolls Royce, they arent even close to Russian engines(they still import from Russia), or france or mighty U.S . And mind you we are ahead of all of three in this field(well the U.S can be said to be at par with us). So china needs to catch up with France and Russia before it can even dream of nearing us in this department.

And since you are understimating us. you should know that building a viable/reliable engine is the epitome of technological capability a country posseses, Its shows how advance a country really is, since it has many spinoffs which helps promote many other sectors in a country's economy/industry. Reason why you see the Chinese investing billions trying to develope a reliable engine and other powers trying to improve on theirs.

True, true. We may not be an empire in the traditional sense of the word. But our political clout, cultural saturation of even the most hostile of markets (I'm looking at you Russia), our economic prowess (long-live the recovery) and our military that can make even the most stubborn of nations listen to us; that makes us an empire. When the US roars, nations stand up and listen. Out of respect or out of fear or looking to receive some benefits, the reasons don't matter. The US has more influence than any other nation on Earth and this fact isn't looking too likely to change. China has a growing military, nations are coming to resent it. China has a growing economy, nations want to be part of it, China's becoming more politically involved, nations are ignoring it, China is growing culturally, but US culture grows too, even in China.

You have to also know that you won't remain the world's sole superpower forever, there are other countries who will take over from you as well, foremost of which might be China( but maybe also India, Brazil, etc). No country will stay on top forever, empire rise, empire falls. The only difference is how long you try and remain on top and how well you manage your decline/fall. In this respect we have managed to stay relevant despite our fall/decline/loss of our empire. Even the U.S.S.R hasn't managed it that well. So it all depends on how well you manage your fall, other countries like Mongolia, Greece etc didn't managed theirs well, hence they are all but irrelevant to current world issues.

Moreover, when i hear some American members on here criticizing developing countries like China, India etc of copying i just :disagree:. Many seem to forget the U.S also copied alot from us when we were the world sole superpower, we had lots of disputes with them for this, but they kept copying which i dont really blame them, since they were trying to catch up with us.They also did the same when Germany after Germany lost the war, where many German scientists were outright kidnapped to work for the U.S .lol All this did helped the U.S alot for it to get where it is today. That's why i never blame other developing countries of copying, no matter what. The end justifies the means. It doesn't matter how you got there as far you get there. The U.S did it, we in Europe even did it from imperial China, Japan did it,,South Kore did it etc...etc.....so others will keep doing it until they catch up and start surpassing the etablished ones as we have seen in the past.

China now has low-bypass turbofans in operation (WS-10/A/B/H).

Once the high-bypass CJ-1000A turbofan comes into production around 2020, UK won't even have that to boast about

UK will be truly irrelevant.

Let's wait and see. You do know plans and reality are two different things. Especially when it comes to engines. Get yours operational and running first before you even start comparing with us. Its like India saying their upcoming Tejas will be better than our eurofighters.lol Get things done before you start comparing, You do know it takes years/decades from when you start operating an engine to calling it reliable is it? It takes decades to operate an engine before you and others can call it reliable bro. So even if you produce your so called CJ-1000A or whatever it will take years/decades of operation before it can be called a truly reliable engine. In short you will have to go through all the process the four leading engine proiducers went through(U.K, U.S.A, France and Russia). In the meantime keep importing Soviet era Russian engines.lol You are not even close to us in engine department to be honest, not even france can match us in this(and you are still behind france) so the gap is still to large. Even the U.S recognizes in engine department we have a slight lead over even them, and you are here saying China will overtake us in this? lool Good luck with that.

Rolls-Royce engines are assembled using American components and American expertise. It's basically an American engine under a British brand.

It won't take China very long to develop these engines as modern technology (supercomputers, 3D printing, advanced machinery and tools, etc) reduces the time needed to develop advanced technology. China is pouring enormous sums of money and increasing the number of engineers working on these projects. China will be successful by 2020 in all these projects.

WS-10 will power J-10, J-11, J-15 and J-16.
WS-13 will power the J-31 5th generation fighter.
WS-15 will power the J-20 5th generation fighter.
WS-20 will power the Y-20 strategic transport aircraft.

CJ-1000A will power the C919 single-aisle commercial aircraft.

UK is just a joke. You are America's 52nd state and most of the weapons in UK's arsenal are American weapons.
Britain is an American state pretending to be a country.

In country years decades are like months.

lool u seem to be the most nationalistic Chinese member on here(even other chinese members here will agree with me.lool).
Nationalism shouldn't blind you/cloud your judgement bro. You are still disputing the fact that we are still way ahead of you in engine field?o_O Even the most nationalistic chinese member on here(well apart from you.lol) will agree with me on this. You simply canty compare an engine who has been operational on sevral types of planes/fighter jets/ships etc with a new engine who is still in development and isnt even operational yet.:disagree:

As i said before, get your engines up and running for years until they are reliable enough before you can even start comparing them with ours. untill then there so simply no comparism to be honest. im not trying to downplay china's achievements, for its still ahead of all developing countries out there. but to compare your 'upcoming' engines to ours which has been operational for decades now is all but laughable to be honest.:bounce:

You forgot one thing: EVERYTHING YOU USE IS MADE IN CHINA. They might not have military advantage but the Chinese are at a war that the US or Britain have never been to. The war of economics and taking it to a foreign ground. US can't impose sanctions on China as it would affect it's economy greatly. Also EU will fall soon, the majority population of it's top nations (Germany, France, Britain) don't want to be part of it.

Also the Chinese are much better at hacking than any other nations. They are preparing for cyber wars not conventional wars. Also you are so FUCKING GREAT THAT YOU CAN'T STILL BEAT THE TALIBAN.

And NATO can't do shit in a war that has no physical existence.

Nope bro. The U.S still has by far the largest spying/hacking capability in the world. No country even comes close to be honest. However, the Chinese aren't that bad either.
Also the E.U won't fall anytime soon, we are going nowhere. However you keep wishing/telling yourself that we will.:D

I agree with you though that today and coming decade the war wont be really military per say, but more an economic/Financial/cyber space/influence one. In this regard we in the west/U.S still have by far the upper hand in allm fields, though other emerging countries are trying to catch up. However, we will have to wait and see if they will. Can't forecast the future with certainty, so lets just take it one day at a time, will we?;)

European Union covers an area of over 4. 3 million square kilometers, a population of over 505 million, a total GDP of over $18.451 Trillion, a GDP per capita of $36,000 per annum, with one of the highest HDIs in the entire world. With one of the most educated populations, a center for learning in the civilized world. A combined military might (conventional and nuclear) that could negate any threat.

Europe is going no where. Its there to stay, and continues to grow.

Only a clod would argue otherwise.
