This German couple spent 9 weeks in Pakistan to prove that it is safe for visitors

Most people who visit Pakistan goes to places like Northern KPK, GB, Azad Kashmir, then comes Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi. I might be wrong but that's what I've seen.

My Pakistani friend in UAE told me that it's easy to get visa (to India) from here. Not sure of the reason though.

Wanderlust tales are fascinating, particularly when you leave everything behind to have a good look at what nature has to offer. A German couple, Elisabeth Hartmann and Christian Nieth set out on their expedition in a campervan in October 2015, leaving their luxury apartment and a lavish lifestyle, to explore the world. Having traversed 15 countries including Pakistan, the couple is in India currently.

Obsessed by the wanderlust, the couple has been on the road ever since they left Germany in their new home – 35-years old Volkswagen camper van, which they call Bulli. While they would have relished their experiences in different countries, Pakistan, which wasn’t in their list initially, managed to seek a special place in their hearts. The sudden change in plan was triggered by the lyrical portrayal of Pakistan by a Turkish hitchhiker they met in Turkey. Chris said:

He called it one of the most beautiful countries he had ever traveled through. This greatly piqued our interest and we decided to add Pakistan to the list.

The plan to hit Pakistan on the way reinforced further when they met the members of Motor Club of Pakistan who was making a round trip from Pakistan, traveling across Iran to Turkey and back. While the couple was having trouble in getting a visa when in Iran, Razi Nayyar, the President of Motor Club of Pakistan came to the help – he did all the paperwork for them.

The trouble they had for acquiring visa vanished in a jiffy when they crossed the Iran-Pakistan border – everything sprung to life all of a sudden, and the words with which Elizabeth reflects her thoughts are heart-warming. She asserted,

When crossing the border into Pakistan from Iran, there seemed to be a paradigm shift in almost every facet. Everything from black and gray turned to pink and green. Pakistan was more colorful. And not just that, the hospitality was overwhelming.

All the stereotypical image they had, of Pakistan, in their heads, perished abruptly experiencing the cultural diversity, considering the fact that they spent their time in Bahawalpur, Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Having spent a few weeks in the Northern Pakistan, they headed back to Lahore from where they crossed the border to explore India. After traveling through Balochistan they expressed that:

We’ve enjoyed the drive through Baluchistan and never felt insecure

They concluded their trip to Pakistan as:

We’ve enjoyed a wonderful 9 weeks in Pakistan: meeting great people, trying delicious food, discovering historical places and being amazed by the country’s natural beauty. To all the strangers who became friends and the countless helpful and friendly people we met along the way: we’re forever grateful for your hospitality and the unforgettable time we had. We’re off to India now and are looking forward to many new adventures which are yet to come… “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.”

Pakistan, despite being a paradoxical country, always has something to offer to the visitors, the strange connection the tourists develop with Pakistan is somewhat unique in so many ways. 9 weeks in Pakistan is a lot of time, considering the notorious image Pakistan has in the world. They have proved that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, and has no parallel when it comes to hospitality.

Ahhhh, cute couple. Now go back and make lots of babies, Germany needs you. Once your family is old enough to travel do pay Pakistan a visit and my kin will throw in a taveez for each kid, to keep your bache safe.

Thank you for the link, brings back so many beautiful memories. Beautiful pictures. You just have to stand there in the middle of the snow covered mountains to admire the real beauty. It breaks my heart to hear P. Army had to land there and a war took place to root out terrorist, but I am very glad they got rid of the terrorists. People over there were pure, innocent and honest. Bad germs of western civilization had not touched them.

Pakistan has a very unique varied landscape of which many nations are not blessed with. The northern areas are covered with some of the highest snow peak mountains in the world, KPK - rough rugged mountainous terrain, Capital territory - thick lush dense Forrest, northern Punjab - plain furtile fields, Southern Punjab/ Sindh dry hot dessert, Balochestan barron dusty landscape and a coastline. Pakistan is a beautiful land.

What's the best Pakistani food you could offer a Türk?

You can list up to 3 dishes.

There are Baba Goosh restaurants in Pakistan that serve Turkish food if you wanted your own food. Just saying.

@Chauvinist @Arsalan I want to visit FSBD too,for shopping though. I have seen some of the clothes, beautiful stuff everytime!

Nice city the roads are well maintained and it is a business oriented city. People are friendly and mind their own business.

We are already using warm clothes here... it chilly not cold yet... and yes it snows in Islamabad .. if not the city than the mountains.

And those school kids full of energy almost running to school.
Islamabad had rich citizens comparatively. Since we stayed in a farm house on out skirts I guess we had pleasure to see better side may be.

Islamabad had rich citizens comparatively. Since we stayed in a farm house on out skirts I guess we had pleasure to see better side may be.

Poverty in Islamabad is negligible. Almost everyone living in its vicinity is rich . you might have noticed posh houses everywhere.

I would strongly recommend you to visit Sikkim. That is a paradise on earth, much better than overcrowded Shimla and not very popular, so you will find less crowd compared to other popular places.

There are numerous Bars and late night places to hangout in Islamabad ,Lahore or Karachi but you have to know the right people. As far as you don't hurt anyone nobody is going to care what you do or where you hangout .

Cool parties but why reporters? If I can get invitation to such parties, I would definitely want to go but if it is not legal and done secretly then i will have to think twice, as it wold be plain stupidity to indulge in anything illegal for an Indian in Pakistan.
Anyways, I have still not found what I am looking for. Probably without derailing this thread further, I will end my discussion here. Also, I think I will start a new thread to discuss night scenes in S Asia.

Anyways, don't take it as a criticism, but it is a personal opinion. I won't say anything about Pakistan but you know why IT industry flourished so much in Chennal, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurgaon, but not in any city of Gujarat despite Gujarat being ahead in ease of doing business? Because Gujarat is a dry state while others are not and majority of IT employees are in 20s or 30s who want to party after a stressful week. It may not appear to be a big thing but it is. I hope Pakistan learns from Dubai and learn how to keep a balance between religion and freedom, it will boost tourism tremendously.
