This chart shows how bad things are for Apple and Samsung in the Chinese smartphone market

Problem for Chinese smart phone brand is they are too hang up on Chinese market, where most of where their phone were sold to, was reading an article saying Huawei sold around 48 millions phone worldwide in 2016 (Compare to some 120 millions from Apple and 240 millions from Samsung) but around 60% of those sold are within China. Huawei being World number 3 phone seller is basically boosted only by Local sale. The lacking of international market for Chinese phone is what damaging the Chinese Phone manufacturer. Because Chinese Market is heavily protected by Chinese government, and by comparing how Chinese phone being sold in China would gave the Chinese company false sense of security, as we saw how the American Phones goes in the 90s. Which basically was killed off by a small Finnish Company called Nokia.
Don't forget ur dead American Brand ... MOTO Motorola.

Motorola is the brand I am talking about, they were killed off by Nokia because they enjoyed majority success within the US, which ignore the world market. Hence we have this SIM card (GSM) vs CDMA debacle which ended up SIM card phone replace all CDMA phone, which were once standard in the US.

Meh, I know Lenovo brought Motorola, but it was so yesterday technology.

I don't honestly think Lenovo brought Motorola is a good move to begin with, in 2012, Google brought Motorola solely because of the Motorola mobile Patent, almost none of these patent were transferred to Lenovo since Google Withholding those, which mean what Lenovo brought is the brand name, which hardly justify the 2.9 billions dollar Lenovo paid, I don't think Motorola brand worth that much, maybe 10 years ago, yes, but today, after RAZA, nobody can name a single Motorola Phone....

Especially what Lenovo brought is the Mobility branch, not the Superconductor Branch, which is actually worth something.

Im sorry, bro ... the semiconductor branch divided from Motorola named Freescale, but since 2016.12 there's no semiconductor company named "Freescale", the whole of Freescale business sold to NXP. Im very familiar with that Freescale, coz my daily job just write codes into Freescale's 8-bit,16-bit, 32-bit ARM microprocessors.

My MCU suppliers informed me there's no Freescale MCU anymore, only NXP's "Freescale MCU". Those NXP salesman & Account Manager already invited me and my team for free dinner !

Yeah I know, they were brought by Qualcomm in 2016 (Your info is a bit off)

Anyway, what I said was Motorola is not really a brand can earn money, after Lenovo brought Motorola, they actually just resume Motorola Asian Pacific Market, they weren't at the same level in the North American and European Market as before, as I said, the brand would not work for China like the time Lenovo brought IBM.

Interesting debate... not sure what a Freescale semiconductor is sounds fascinating haha :)

Each year Qualcomm sold millions of Telephone processors to China and Korea Mobile Phone companies ... the automotive electronics microprocessor has three famous brand: 1.Renesas 2. TI 3. Freescale which qualified by AEC-Q100, in China both TI and Freescale MCUs widely used in project develop by Chinese engineers. The Qualcomm bought NXP and NXP bought Freescale, just for into automotive electronics market in China.

Chinese brands are cheap while Apple is costly. In India, someone who cannot afford Apple and Samsung go for Chinese brands

Although I could have bought iPhone 6 or Galaxy S-7 but I went ahead with Infinix Note 3 pro because it's bang of the buck, I nearly have everything what big brands offer and performance is very good.

Well, that's true, but I think this is a bit off topic. Maybe we should go back to Chinese mobile phone.

The problem, as I said, is that Chinese mobile phone main target is Chinese Internal Market, well it may have been enough to earn enough for the brand to survive, but the problem is quite obvious that doing so will most likely ignoring the world trend, and mobile phone is not just a communication device like it was during the 80s and early 90s, today mobile phone is what we can see or use as a yard stick for Fashion or Popular Trend, and for the Chinese phone company, by betting only on Chinese market, they would have lag behind or in the dark with what the trend have to offer from the world.

The transition of the trend is always cross continent, we see swinging from the Original Brick Phone (the big phone that weight more than a bottle of water) from Americas to Smaller GSM phone by Nokia, then to Smartphone first from Apple in North America then Android Smart phone from Asia.

World demand of cellphone is bigger than the one that is in China, not just because there are more people using it in the world than in China, but also the world dictate the mobile phone trend, and as I said, the trend are usually intercontinental, China can dominate the Chinese Market, of course it does, but then there are always people from China that are willing to buy foreign phone (Like Samsung or Apple) and when you stack this against the people from overseas that are willing to buy Chinese Phone? You will see the danger the Chinese Brand is currently facing.

Apple and Samsung are also made in China.
Not the same as most profit goes back to the company's country of origin.

Don't lecture me on intellectual property right. I used to work in an US pharmaceutical company. India is the country which ignores the drug patents of western companies. Our company invented a new drug and next year India produced a generic version and put it on the market. I can say Indian stole something from me. But that’s OK for me as long as it can save life. But just don’t keep calling other people copycat. In today’s international trade environment, if Apple, or Facebook, or any western company feels that their right has been violated, they can sue the person even in China. I believe that they wouldn’t hesitate to do that. Since no such law sues floating around, you don’t have to the right to accuse someone who is innocent.

wrong. dual camera phones trend actually started in china by huawei. htc and lg made em too at the time, but nowhere as popular as huawei P9 leica that sold millions. the thin bezel phones also started in china by xiaomi, mi mix. sharp made 'em first years ago, but nobody gives a sh1t. the mi mix on the other hand sold out in seconds. now, samsung, lg and apple are me too.. lol
