With the streets you will be back to square one. Protests did occur during the 80s and MQM was born out of violence, yes the Pak establishment did have a role in propping them up but they became a reality and Altaf became an icon and rest is history.

I simply failed to understand as to why we wait for things to get bad to worse before taking the same action which was originally recommended.

Comparing europe to Pakistan is unfair. France does not have a 6 times larger enemy out to get it and its institutions are stronger.

Once again Karachi's protest will become ethnically violent and they might be headed that way anyways. These protests are not exactly by the anjuman e tajran which is basically a picnic.

Ethnic strife is right around the corner because it will be muhajir vs sindhi basically and will become a major headache for the already confused Bajwa establishment.

We all want Karachi and Sindh to become peaceful and that is why it is vital that our uniformed intelligence community does something before once again a full scale military operation is needed.

Intelligence community must act.

This idea of telling Karachiites to figure it out alone is irrational and disconnected from the reality.

The PPP is leveraging a system in Sindh (comprising of legal institutions, political mechanisms, and ethnic card) to squeeze the entire province.

Unfortunately, I suspect the 'golfers in Pindi' are OK with having the PPP around. It seems the PPP fulfills someone's interests, and that someone is powerful and in the right position. There's no other rational or logical explanation as to why the PPP -- along with the TTP-types and other violent malcontents -- are simply allowed to exist, if not thrive.

The only rapid-fire solution is a quaid who puts the identity and unity of Pakistan first, and just takes the necessary action. If it had been me, I would dismantle the provincial system and replace it with districts with local self-governing. I would remove all of the status-quo parties from the political system. I would forbid any state official (including generals) from speaking to any foreign dignitary, official, etc (especially those from the intelligence community).

Unfortunately, those steps (which are necessary) would squeeze out the toes of certain people at the top. Frankly, I think the ones in charge are benefitting from the status quo. It's as simple as that.
