Errrr Sikkim is Indian territory. We don't need to intervene there on behalf of anyone. Bhutan is a protectorate of India and We have a pact with them to provide protection against any external danger to sovereignty of Bhutan.

Well that's the issue isn't it? From the Chinese perspective, it is not disputed territory. Just like from the Indian perspective, AP is not disputed territory, and they don't feel like they have to ask for anyone's permission to build there.

Yes, in that case China must insist on a final settlement of the border which this time will not be violated. However, that must also include those areas which were under Indian/Bhutanese control before regular Chinese incursions and km-by-km takeover. That should settle things once and for all.

Some foreign observers like to refer to China as a mercantilist power. And yes, mercantilism did lead to problems in the past, particularly that of imperialism and colonialist expansion, usually leading to warfare.

But that doesn't mean it will be the case for China, after all this is a different world now. And even if it did, at the end of the day, all countries will look after their own national interests first. That's just the nature of this human world, and I don't see China as being very much different from other powers that existed before. History goes in cycles, powers rise and fall.

Nothing wrong in hoping that China's rise would be different than that of other such powers. History shows otherwise. So far, China has had the benefit of not having to invest in military adventurism, because of a world order that is relatively stable. As the US withdraws more and more, China will not be the only nation that will see an opportunity, other nations may also decide to right past injustices as they see them. Some lunatic will want to wage war on a neighbor, another would want to nationalize all infrastructure and renege on loan repayments, we have seen it all before.

Settling one dispute at a time is the right way. But in a manner that the dispute is indeed settled, and does not give rise to a much larger, unnecessary one.

Hindu do not kill any Muslims. It is Muslims who kills Hindus for centuries and when their 4-5 gus get killed , they whine all over the world but now Hindus do not care about them.
