If IGA is used as a defence airport then that will be news to me and many others !!! And I don't think someone who has served the army would stoop so low to play the communal card in this matter.

There was a previous post which said C-130s used to take off from Delhi airport..not sure of the veracity...

Not all in the army are holy cows specially the higher ups...eg. Adarsh scam, sukhna land transfer etc..

anyway I would wait for the report of the enquiry to come out..

Believe me they do ask some stupid question after reading your name on the passport....happened to me a few times.I'm not saying this happens everyday but you do face these kind of incidence one in a while.....which don't even make sense ????

its not about beliving, its about how its being made a news and how people like ajtr take it to divide the Hindus and Muslims further.
descriminations happen every day at work place not only to muslim, to Hindus as well and to every other community.
Do we complain about them, we just move past them and live a happy life forgetting such things that happen.
The incident is still in investigation and you want every one to belive one side of the story before the truth is revealed?

If his creating a defence involved breaking a law, then yes, I guess he will be prosecuted..

Apart from this I would not like to comment on whether he was playing a religious card or if the airlines (i guess it would be some employees and not the airlines per se) indulged in religious discrimination..

I was questioning the reason he put it be not believable.
things like this happens to many of us and some react while others don't.
in this case he is a soldier and for a soldier respect is everything. I saw his interview in tv and his cause seems believable to me..that's all. like you said we can wait for the final enquiry report to be sure.

Benefit of the doubt should be given to him because he is a minority and the accuser. However, please tell me can any private company in India have a racist policy, do any Indians here believe that?

He was pointing out that islamophobia will prove very costly to a private airline. If you deplane a random muslim once in a while, I dont think you can ever meet your performance target.
This can happen in US, but never in India or even UK.

Now its between Major's word and the airline staffer's.
I would tend to trust Major's word.(He may be overreacting but I have no reason to believe that a person of his level will tell lies)

are you saying the Army officers do not lie. and are very honest.
They are men first and officers next, basic instinct will always find a way to defend ones dignity and it goes to officers too. unless they know that the consequences of being exposed will be much higher to their dignity during service

I am not against checking a suspects baggage or holding him back. especially. with terror threat even though Muslims hate it, it's humiliating for them to be treated as suspects because of their name or dressing..it becomes necessary..because of few mad heads 99.9% of their community is going through humiliation.

in this case it stared as a regular negligence, misbehavior and then in the. middle of it some staff pulled out the "terrorist " thing.

He is an ex army officer. Deployed in insurgency infected areas. Rank was major. I think he must have enough friends to teach those employees a lesson if he wanted to. I dont think he needed some religious card for that. but people here calling it a religious card and calling him a liar (Some even suggested to send him to Pakistan) give more strength to his story

Dude, Im a hindu so what stopped me from playing the minority/religion card? My common sense, if you feel that some people are biased, please use your better judgement and ignore them, no need to feel bad.. you have all kinda people, we have to be tolerant, no two ways to remain focused on our work and benefit our country!
