What's new

There will be no voting tomorrow, Speaker will exercise his powers - Arshad Sharif

Nothing is happening tomorrow. The vote won't be called thus the 7 days period expires and the assembly will be dissolved again. On Sunday election campaign starts. Supreme Court can shout all they want, they have exactly 0 say in parliament affairs and the government knows it. Government has been playing really nice with everyone so far, I don't think they will play nice anymore.

What will happen when the state violates the constitution? The PM violates it? The President violates it? Everything eventually lands in the Supreme Court, right?

No one has violated any constitution from Government of Pakistan side

The Speaker / President / Prime Minister can say No any time !
This is "their Right"

Speaker of Assembly has right , to Say No also Prime Minister can say Yes
Prime Minister of Pakistan has right to Say No also can say Yes
President of Pakistan has right to say No also can say Yes

Valid Reason for Rejection (Constitutionally valid reason for saying no!)
  • Emergency
  • External Threat
  • Recent Missile Launch
  • If PTI Party members , join other party without resigning to vote against party

A Speakers can reject a Petition Until he is satisfied !! This is his right given to him by Oath taking and constitution

1- TV is running a media circus , and Supreme Court is simply running around in circle

2- When they have no power , claiming that they need to enforce something

Private TV channels are running the story , as they wish because they want majority of Pakistani to be confused

Interesting point that president has power to grant pardon. So even if speaker is held in contempt, president can override the courts. Deciding politics with legal mumbo jumbo never results in good outcomes. If buying of votes had been declared illegal by the courts, we then should have avoided this predicament. Fine if you want to switch sides. Hand in your seat and contest the election on the platform you believe in and we are all the wiser for it. But this is Pakistan so politics will inevitably produce the most undesired outcome. But thats what we deserve for being ghulams of Bhuttos and Sharifs.

LOL PTI Speaker is not even doing his constitutional duties, he is violating Article 95 and was deliberately playing delaying tactics and reading order from paper. What is this NA or some movie theatre?

95Vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister.
(1)A resolution for a vote of no-confidence moved by not less than twenty per centum of the total membership of the National Assembly may be passed against the Prime Minister by the National Assembly.
(2)A resolution referred to in clause (1) shall not be voted upon before the expiration of three days, or later than seven days, from the day on which such resolution is moved in the National Assembly.
(3)A resolution referred to in clause (1) shall not be moved in the National Assembly while the National Assembly is considering demands for grants submitted to it in the Annual Budget Statement.
(4)If the resolution referred to in clause (1) is passed by a majority of the total membership of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister shall cease to hold office.

How can he invoke article 5 on 190+ members at once? In NSC meeting no names were mentioned of any MNA. The article clearly says "citizen" and not "citizens"

5Loyalty to State and obedience to Constitution and law.
(1)Loyalty to the State is the basic duty of every citizen.
(2)Obedience to the Constitution and law is the 10[inviolable] 10 obligation of every citizen wherever he may be and of every other person for the time being within Pakistan.

Even a kid will understand he is just running from the field and doing stupid things and we can expect more.

Basically, the people who are asking this question are actually asking for some common sense from blind sheep following Imran Khan and to try and save Pakistan from Imran Khan who is trying to drown the country in a pit.

There is no conspiracy, absolutely nothing at all. If the US was really that entrenched into our politics, they would have never allowed Imran Khan to become Prime Minister; and that is based on what he said in his speech today that the US has a dossier on Imran Khan and that's why they want to remove him.....someone should tell the half-mind that the dossier would have existed before he became a PM and the US could just as easily have bought the 28 odd electibles, 11 odd independents and 17 odd allies to ensure he never became our PM......infact, they could have just paid the military to retract their absolute support and Imran Khan would have died with the dream of becoming a PM!

So, folks, let's be real and accept that the US is neither behind any so called saazish nor that interested in our affairs. It was a simple message conveyed to our Consular staff that relations are not good between the 2 countries under Imran Khan and so on. Factual position!

If the speaker/deputy speaker play any more dirty tricks, they will be committing contempt of court and will be facing the music accordingly.
Hey patwari, Mubarak ho failed state banana Republic.

Most people don't realize that Speaker of National Assembly is not a Peon !

Once Oath is taken by Speaker , President and Prime Minister they have 100% power to do full extent of their role

Speaker can Reject a Petition if he feels the laws were broken , the Speaker is the "High Authority of Assembly"
  • Article 63A
  • External threat against state of Pakistan

It is not delay tactic , it is a "Rejection!!!"

Exercising the Rights and powers of Speaker of National Assembly

Matters of Assembly , are dealt by Speaker of Assembly , Supreme court is powerless by article 69 of Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Speaker of Assembly , do no report to Supreme Court
President of Pakistan do not report to Supreme Court
Prime Minister of Pakistan do not report to Supreme Court

Military , Intelligence , Federal Bodies all are bound to serve Prime Minister till next election in 83 days

Supreme court , did their circus , and had opinion , and it is just a opinion not an order a humble request to consider other option

Exactly. Any court cannot interfere because article 69 is a firewall that separates judiciary from executive. The decision of SC is laughable and sadly common people will never know that this decision is so illogical that it means only one thing - save mians thats it.

This decision basically states that if a war is initiated during confidence vote, the president and pm's decisions will be conditional to the SC which means they will have to ask SC to declare war or not.

People will never truly understand that SC has not only ripped apart but also burnt and buried the wall that exists between executive and judiciary just to save mians. Even an open slave would not favor his master so blatantly.

SUPREME COURT IS POWERLESS IN THIS CASE

But the SC is being presented to be quite powerful to the Pentagon Boys! The Pindi Boys have got a sense of dark humor....

Speaker, PM, President can't make any decisions going against constitution. If anyone does that SC comes into action.

You should be thankful Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by SC and he was PM at that time. It was because of SC disqualification, IK is PM today.

Well tomorrow speaker can reject decision by invoking Article 69 that SC can't interfere and I think this will happen tomorrow. Opposition can submit NVC again.

But PM can dissolve assemblies again.

Circus goes on in a Nuclear State.

So read article 95 yourself, as well as the deputy speaker's justification, and you'll figure out the answer. It's very clear you haven't done so.

Also, it says EVERY citizen, as in plural, as in more than one.
