TheNation: Fearing debt trap, Pakistan rethinks Chinese 'Silk Road' projects

lol Chinese approval rate...

How many of these come from illiterate people in Africa. Most of them won't even know what kind of question they have been asked.
Those polls were done by poll organizations based in US, next time you can ask them to do a better job.

lol, as I said, you are polling people in African, which have very low education level, if any at all, Poll like this, even if true, mean nothing in reality.

Reality is, most Chinese I know hated African, and most African I know don't really care about China, and anything you say otherwise is just simply lying to yourself.

The “off-book debt” part is interesting. This basically confirms the past reports that Power Plants under CPEC have guaranteed returns in upwards of 20%. That too in dollars. China has hit a goldmine here. Amazing deal. Best return guaranteed.

Those advocating BOT for Railway line would be surprised to know how little enthusiastic investors are for the project. This line will be financially feasible only if the govt provides the building cost.

.
The issue is the blanket waiver given by the last government which was focused on letting them net the money into their accounts. Essentially making money off a bad deal which I presume they wished to take to hell with them.

.
CPEC is like the back bone for Pakistan, but our eyes and ears are open," Rasheed said.

Interesting comment by Sheikh Saab.. Shows willingness to stand against extortion in name of aid.

.
How about the Afghan war after 911? That's the turning point for the country economy and development. That brought terrorim, deaths and chao.
You never got out of afghanistan after the soviet withdrawal while the americans did.
Right after the invasion post 911, you airlifted hundreds of taliban and pakistani fighters out of kunduz and you hosted then in your tribal areas while also hosting USA in ur country.
You made the choices, no one did it for you.

The 20% return is on equity component only, not the debt component. There is a difference.

It is being reduced in new projects.

The review won't impact CPEC projects. Some projects are being renegotiated.

The Western and Indian dream to break CPEC wont materialize.

China and Pakistan will become stronger partners.

.
Pakistan started interfering in Afghanistan long before USA was in the picture. When the USA came in, pakistan was very happy to receive funding. It was not tricked at all.
Not true at all. Pakistan was not involved in Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion and that's when USA came into the picture in Afghanistan.

.
Good job by Imran Khan govt. Pakistan should come first instead of China

.
All CPEC projects are being renegotiated because of kick backs secured by the PMLN govt.
All CPEC projects will be completed as planned.

.
The same project was signed at 8.2 Billion by the previous Pakistani government, and now the new government will be bringing it down to 6.2 Billion dollars. Pakistani railway minister has said that they ll be further cutting down the investment to 4.2 Billion dollars

Does it mean that China was taking Pakistan for a ride, an expensive 4 Billion dollars ride? :woot:

Nope, you were involved as soon as refugees started coming in. You were involved from the onset while USA joined in 1980
