The World’s Worst Passports For Travel

Which citizens have the least freedom of travel and face maximum visa restrictions?

It can be frustrating to plan a dreamy overseas vacation, only to face the daunting task of getting an entry visa, or worse, be denied one.

However, most countries impose visa restrictions on overseas visitors, according to the 2013 Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index – a global ranking of countries based on the freedom of travel for their citizens.

“Visa restrictions are an important tool for governments to control the movement of foreign nationals across borders,” Henley & Partners said. “Visas are a standard requirement for most countries as certain non-nationals wish to enter their territory.

“Visa requirements are also an indication of the relationship between individual nations and the status of a country within the international community of nations,” it added.

Finland, Sweden and the UK topped the index this year, with a score of 173 – indicating the number of countries and territories their nationals can visit without a visa.

Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg and the US followed closely with a score of 172 on the index.

The global ranking, produced in collaboration with IATA, includes 219 destinations in total.

Here are the nations that are lumbered with the greatest travel restrictions in the world.

. . . .
Very surprised to see Nepal and Sri Lanka.

I think Sri Lanka would pull itself out in the next 5 years. The situation in Nepal however is complicated.

. .
“Visa requirements are also an indication of the relationship between individual nations and the status of a country within the international community of nations,” it added.

And so that should mean UK is on better terms with other nations than US,because i see that they top the list.

But would really like to know that to how many countries can i enter without visa???(no guesses...Indian passport)
If SriLankans can enter 32 countries despite their sour relations with other countries then i think i should be able to enter atleast 50-60.lol.
Then i would list out all those countries & study their tourist destinations. And then i would pick up my camera & leave for a longggg holiday.:azn:

.
i thought china will appear in this list before i came into this thread.
i surprise Nepal is in it.
i guess the richer your nation is the easier you could travel around the world. another factor is about politics

Typical Indian Mentality

.
its not all about how rich a country is..Sri Lanka had a 30 year old war and for first few years since 2009 there were 1000s of tamils who illegally migrated to other countries to get fake refugee visas..specially the tamils that had links with LTTE..this devalued the SL passport but It`ll change quickly
