The worlds biggest Gold Reserves.

well india right now is the worlds fastest growing market, i think our reserves willl go up a lot in future and govt should soon take over all the gold that is found in every temple of india before a massive feud happend. that gold can help nation.

it wont...that gold is actually (at least for now) is a liability and not an asset...do u think a vishnu statue made of gold will be allowed to melt and recast into gold bars and being sold??

Not only that it will cause communal tensions. Why target the temple alone?

Also if the Govt is short on cash there are many valuable artifacts kept in museums around India. Govt can sell off that first before touching temple gold.

But in modern India, what I said is more easy than bringing back black money.

India’s $600 Billion Hidden Treasure - India Real Time - WSJ

While the recently discovered treasure in a Kerala temple has grabbed the world’s attention, India’s real treasure is hidden elsewhere.

India’s private gold holdings are worth approximately $743 billion.

It’s in steel cupboards and in bank vaults across the country, where India’s housewives and other private owners have stashed their jewelry and gold savings. India’s private gold holdings probably total 15,000 tons, according to an estimate by Citigroup analysts in May. Some jewelers like T.K. Chandiran of Coimbatore thinks this number is too conservative, and the real amount is more like 30,000 tons, counting other hidden temple treasures.

These private stores are in addition to the 560 tons of gold kept as reserves with the Reserve Bank of India, which are worth around $26 billion.

If we stick with the conservative 15,000-ton estimate, at the current gold price of $1,549 per ounce, India’s private gold holdings are worth approximately $743 billion.

But this is not all in the purest form of gold, so let’s knock 20% off this amount to reflect what this gold could be worth now. That would be a cool $600 billion. The Kerala temple treasure, by the way, is only an estimated $22 billion, although there could be more riches in a still sealed vault that the Supreme Court is scheduled to hold a hearing on today.

The title is misleading.................Make it world's largest private gold holdings.....:coffee:.

we should be increasing our gold holdings instead of holding american toilet paper.

we are the world's largest gold producer. no need to buy more than we can produce ourselves. I would prefer we use the money to buy gold or other mineral mines overseas or go for deep sea mining!

There is not a Chinese alive that would not sell his mother for that American "toilet paper"
We have been selling that toilet paper and buying real assets.
Without china holding that toilet paper, America would be joining its good buddies the USSR in the dustbin of history.
Toilet paper is more valuable than American toilet paper. At least toilet paper is smooth enough to wipe your arse.

You could say that for anyone in the world, but the fact remains, the American toilet paper is worthless and is a real shitstain on the world if you will. The only thing backing it is US gun boat diplomacy. But for how long does the US intend to intimidate the world?

While other countries are too weak and have no choice but to accept the dollar hegemony, China can choose and is already in the process of dumping this garbage.

Time for China to dump U.S. debt?

China is also swapping our Yuan with other nations all over the world.

If you knew anything about the world economy you would know thats not true.

Contrary to what you may believe China only holds a minority stake in U.S. debt and most of that is in SHORT TERM bonds. China continues to buy US bonds because they make money, it gives them a certain amount of influence, and helps keep Chinese goods flowing to the US.

You may think that America is about to collapse. But the US has been in worse economic times then this before and it is still around today. There my be some hard times ahead for the entire world not just the US. But the US will survive and still retain it's superpower status. will we be the only superpower? most likely not. China will continue to grow and develop it's infrastructure and military I'm sure. and Russia may but needs to deal with it's brain drain, corruption problems, and rebuild it's infrastructure still in much needed repair from soviet times.
