Damm India is developing fast!!

. .
first you have to understand the concepts of GDP in PPP and GDP in nominal```

PPP is useless when comparing its GDP with other countries, because international purchasing is done with dollars..

but PPP is useful when measuring domestic purchasing, for example the Big Mac costs much less in Indian than the U.S

for developing countries PPP tend to be significently bigger than GDP nominal, otherwise for most developed countries

ppp is an important index as it facilitate
international comparisons of income and living standard of people

. .
India moved from the 12th position in 2007 to 3rd in 2011 i.e. just a time interval of mere 4 years :azn:.........

That comparison is incorrect. We have moved from 4th to 3rd in PPP terms over the period and moved from 14th to 12th in nominal terms. Infact due to rupee depreciation, in nominal tems we have slipped from 9th in 2010 to 12th in 2011.

 You should ask Worldbank to stop comparing economies using PPP, then ranting here on this forum.
