The word "Shaheed" and dead Indian soldiers

No one in his right mind calls you Arabs. If some Indians do, they are off their kilter. But I've met enough Pakistanis who claim some sort of Arab lineage and yes, there is some aping. Subcontinental Islam was largely influenced by a tolerant Persian Islam. In University, where once I was mistaken for a Muslim I was corrected by a Pakistani who said - "Don't say Khuda Hafiz" - say "Allah Hafiz" because the later is more Arab and Khuda is a secular term. I am no expert but I can only talk from personal experience. I am sure you know better.
We believe you....as much as the tooth fairy.

Just tell me how many Arabs came to Indian Subcontinent while attacking.Very few right?.then how come this vast population of Muslims?you are the child of the Arab father and Indian mother. That proves my above point buddy. So the point is you were not the one who banged ,you were the result of that bang....
Im Baloch not a bharti bhaiya...

You should do a DNA test.. im 100% sure .. im youd have Baloch,Pashtun or Mughal genes.... or probably even arabic.

OK. Thanks for that extremely original and awe inspiring analogy.

Lately I have noticed that all of Indian channels have started to call "Shaheed" to their dead soldiers. In almost every Youtube video I came across randomly, the anchor repeats "Shaheed" for the dead soliders almost 10 times in a minute.

Why this sudden change? Why adopting Muslim ideology to call dead hindu soldiers "Shaheed"?

I am genuinly curious and interested to know why the Indian govt feels that the word "Shaheed" to describe their dead soldiers elevates their status somehow?

Because we all know that without Indian govt approval their media never goes to such lengths.

I would really like to understand the thought process of our neighbors.

Thanks in advance.
Our government and ministry of defense already made it clear that "words like martyr or Shaheed " never be used anywhere but use "battle casualty"...

This is what I am trying to explain to some of your countrymen, that your jingoistic media with probably large support from within the govt (because they normally never go against govt policies) are trying to copy something blindly without checking whether it fits their dead soldiers or not.

They should stop calling dead hindu soldiers "Shaheed", because this goes against their core values.

According to Taliban Pakistan army is apostate army who kill mujahideens for money from USA. I dont think some 7500 Pakistan soldiers killed by Taliban in last decade wil get their hooris. Atleast Talibans r not hypocrites.

Why do we have 12 pages on a simple subject

Shaheed is an Islamic term for those who die with faith in their hearts

Not for hindu pagan types

.
So much whining over a commonly used word.

Welcome to the age of language Nazis I guess. :pakistan:

Of course, they will use Islamic terminology they served Muslims for a thousand years. Coupled with the fact they lack creativity. Their history is pretty dull, so they pick and choose from others. Bunch of contemptible drivelling morons.

. .
Could be a desperate attempt to get more Muslims to sign up and defend the country against Pakistan. Indian Muslims are gullible and will bow down to pressure.

.
Correct term for them is "Jahanum Raseed" or in short DTH (Dispatched to Hell)

Oh Bhai, both Urdu and Arabic are the sister Language. Grammer of Urdu, Persion and Arabic are same. So ''Shaheed'' word is used in Urdu, Persion and Arabic.
I would disagree. There are many Arabic and Persian loanwords that have become nativized to the Language of the Exalted Encampment, however Arabic grammar is completely different to Urdu's. Persian and Urdu are more similar and indeed English and Urdu are closer than Arabic and Urdu.

And these TTP are armed and financed by NATO and Bharat themselves, so much for being hypocrites, eh?

In India the word "shaheed" used in place of martyr not now but it eaw used earlier also... No religious meaning... For example Bhaghat Singh is a shaheed/martyr for us...
Another example is ''aye mere watan ke logo" is the most decorated patriotic song in India from 1962... What is its lines...

aye mere vatan ke logon
zara aankh mein bhar lo paani
jo shaheed hue hain unki
zara yaad karo qurbaani
tum bhool na jaao unko
is liye suno ye kahani
jo shaheed...

Not words but its meaning is important...

Please at least do not be disrespectful to a soldier's sacrifice on a defence forum!
Actually the OP is asking why not Indian media is calling them as 1 soldier or two sacrificed, why use the Term "Shaheed", The term "Shaheed" is not language specific, it is an Islamic Term used for person who sacrifice in the way of Allah.
