It is all linked to Sindh river of pakistan, persians liked to pronounce "S" as "H", they were our neighbors (indigenous people living in indus basis at the eastern edge of persian empire), so used to call "Sindh" as "Hind" and people living around Sindh river as "Hindi" instead of "Sindhi", From "Hindi" someone changed to "Hindu" but both "Hindi" and "Hindu" was originally in reference to the people living around Sindh river of Pakistan as the eastern neighbor of Persian empire. Greeks took the word "Hind" from the persians and changed it to "Ind" and then to "India" because they were more comfortable to pronounce "I" instead of "H" in the beginning. English and other europeans adopted this greek mispronunciation "India" which is what is internationally renowned now. But one thing is pretty sure this whole "Hind", "Hindi", "Hindu" was originally only for the people living in the land of Sindh/Hind river that is modern Pakistan.
What is now called India which is east of Pakistan has always been home of Gangu people so its true name should be Gangustan or Ganduland and their religion should be called Gangu religion which will be the accurate description for them especially for BJP/RSS gangus.
