The women who stand to lose everything in Afghanistan

Worry about Indians and let the Afghans worry about Afghanistan.

Firstly, I have made hundreds or thousands of posts about the social, economic and political problems in India, whether it be farmer suicides, student suicides, hunger, lack of healthcare etc, so I do worry about India.

Secondly, if you had cared to read the OP it speaks of Afghan women worried about the now-changed Afghan society and contributing to the article interviews done by a foreign press agency. Those Afghan women didn't tell the journalist and her accompanying staff to "let the Afghans worry about Afghanistan" and go away.

And you don't seem to care about the 180 intellectuals and journalists assassinated by the Taliban between 2020 and 2021. And you seem flippant about the misery that will increase drastically in Afghanistan now because of Taliban rule.

Indians on this forum are not trusted because they are trolls and only seek to antagonise the members and then cop a nice verbal beating. But, reading your posts, I think I can grant you better treatment from my end so that we can have a fair discussion.

First of all, the concerns for Afghan women and the wider Afghan populace is genuine. However, I think, The Taliban of 2021 are not the same as the Taliban of 1990s. The previous version only understood to make gains and govern using heavy handed tactics due to their pure military function. Come 2001, the Taliban's traditional allies no longer recognised them and they could see the true effects of international isolation where their enemy, the NA, conveniently and easily took over the country with the aid of international forces. The Taliban were not present during the Soviet war and so such massive bombardment against them must have been pure hell and they witnessed true raw firepower and there were no weapons from no country that could aid and protect them. They had no where to run and were completely broken and in deep shock. Now, they were just pawns in the grander game of world politics and quickly understood from their patrons where they stood.

Now, the new Taliban, it seems they understand how important geo-politics is for their survival. It seems that they have been nurtured to use diplomacy more to win than pure brute force. It didnt happen overnight, it tooks years of battling the US, an opponent that the world listens to and commands a powerful position on the battlefield. But, it seems that the US made a decision to let go of the Aghanistan War due to numerous reasons, out of scope of this discussion, which the Taliban used to its full advantage.

If this was the same Taliban of 1990s, they would not have granted general amnesty, nor would they have accepted surrender, nor would they have agreed to an inclusive government (never happened before) and would have used plain brute force to achieve their objectives which would have ended in a stalemate leading to a protracted civil war. There were external enablers as well, I would guess them to be the SCO members, who are keen to get rid of the US and also have certain factions under their influence in Afghanistan who could have picked up arms and continued fighting. Yet, since the bigger picture is in question and the Taliban have been shown the role they need to play which appeals to them, they most likely understand that they need to be a lot more measured in dealing with their subjects.

Here is a link that came through from BBC, where a female TV anchor is having a discussion with a Taliban media rep.

where this is temporary or permanent, only time will tell. But considering they have witnessed a far better outcome using diplomacy more, they may have acquired the taste and can employ to their subjects giving them an opportunity to live better lives.

I agree there is a sizable representation of Indian religio-nationalists on this forum. They spoil the experience of not only other nationalities but also of the more sensible and rational Indian PDFers.

I agree that the Taliban of now have become more educated in geo-politics hence their statements like not of allowing Afghan territory to be used by militant groups to attack other countries ( but this non-allowance remains to be seen ) and their government's unchallenged recognition by USA, China, Pakistan, India and I imagine the rest of the West. The Taliban do seem to want to juggle the individual aims of those countries in Afghanistan.

Interesting.

About this from the same article :
He also separately posted a photo showing a woman dressed in a hijab attending a morning meeting in the newsroom.
I wonder does the "hijab" mean a headscarf or a naqab.

Well, it remains to be seen that since they claim to be championing Islam whether they will establish an ideal Islamic welfare state that will have more in common with an ideal Communist system than with the ruthless systems of their new allies like USA and China.

In the OP it is given that the Taliban assassinated 180 intellectuals and journalists between 2020 and 2021 ? The coming days will see if they will they repent for this.

What has it netted you? It's a Pakistani forum we don't play any role in India and it's progress. It's like singing in front of a cow. Do it in India and do it practically so that it inspires others to do the same, otherwise it's pointless. Did you participate in farmer protest? it is still going on, making one thread in a Pakistani forum and thinking your job is done, doesn't make you a human rights activist.

Yes, I don't care about the corrupt Kabuli elite, you can peddle all the propaganda you want. People of Afghanistan already made their decision and have shown you practically their choice. There WAS NO RESISTANCE AGAINST TALIBAN TAKEOVER. Again I would like to concentrate on a single word, MAJORITY.

It is you who is on his high horse thinking people are either Evil or Good. I will illustrate with an example.

This is what your corrupt Kabuli elite and American forces has been doing for the last 20 years. They forced the ordinary, simple people of Afghanistan to pick up weapons instead of books, they forced them to take arms instead of playing in playgrounds. Look at these adult men, riding, enjoying, and playing what was meant for kids. What does it show, what does it mean? It shows those lost days when they were meant to play, your frigging corrupt kabuli regime and your master America with its retarded 20 year invasion, deprived them of their childhood.

And all you seem to care about is a pompous, douchbaggy, entitled feeling, gay, LGBTQ, minority elite. To hell with them, may they burn in hell for their corruption of the land. And depriving the innocent of their childhood and their future.

They just got into power, they need time, and the countries they ally with will help them along the way. A stable Afghanistan is in everyone's favour.

Hijab is often referred to as head covering. Naqab is more of a face veil.

An Islamic welfare state is not the same as a communist state. There is a stark difference between the two. I would urge you study the difference between the two. Also, USA is not an ally nor is China. They are just going to maintain diplomatic relationships so that there is legitimacy to their rule and are no longer regarded as a terrorist origanisation.

As for the assassination of intellectuals. The simple answer is, it is war, and you will eliminate anything of value to negate the enemy its advantage. Unfortunately, key individuals sometimes are such assets of high value and do get eliminated as a legitimate battlefield target. However, because they have announced there is no more war, no retribution, and general amnesty, this means that those days are long gone and pointless to bring up the past if your moving into the future. If someone digs up the past, the Taliban are definitely going to have a very long and lengthy list of thousands of people that could come onto their hit list but they dont want that and everyone should respect it. They are turning the page, this is unheard in Afghan culture, so it is a very brave and bold step on their part.

There were no concerns for these Same Afghan women when NATO was carpet bombing, unless those bombs was smart to only kill Taliban men.

No matter if the poster is an elite on this forum, at the end of the day the poster is Indian. His/her butthurt is more related to raw loosing its assets in Afghanistan rather than Afghan women, they just cant express it openly hence the women card.
I barely saw not more than a few women on tarmac at kabul airport rather it was all men ( contractors, assets and oppurtunists who fell for rumors that anyone who gets on the plane will get to Canada visa free).
