Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Friday warned people of Balochistan against “being used by the enemy.”



Addressing a gathering in Jaffrabad district of Balochistan for the 50th death anniversary of Jafar Khan Jamali, the former president asked people to be wary of the enemy’s designs. However, Zardari did not name who the enemy is.

“Do not allow yourselves to be used,” he added.

Zardari further asked the people of the province to reject separatist elements as “they’ve only caused destruction”. “You have the resources and the land, why do you allow yourself to be exploited by the enemy,” Zardari questioned.

“Do we want to live in India in the same conditions and even be punished for eating beef,” Zardari asked and added that it is the narrow mindedness which is resulting in mistreatment to Kashmiri women [in Indian held Kashmir].

He also said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will bear fruits for the province but some people are being misguided on the project.

Addressing New Delhi’s threats to halt the water supply to Pakistan, the former president said, “India threatens to stop our water, but it will never succeed in doing so.” I will introduce a system of drip irrigation in the province which will utilise an acre of land with just 300 gallons of water instead of 10,000 gallons.

There will be wars over water in the future, but we will ensure that the water is brought from Central Asia and Balochistan gets the biggest share of it, the PPP leader asserted.

“The province has been blessed with every resource including gold and other precious metals,” he added.

India can’t stop Pakistan’s water: Zardari

JAFFARABAD: Former president of Pakistan and leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday India could not stop Pakistan’s water as Islamabad had already found other channels to fulfill its requirements.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s death anniversary, the former president spoke of water woes of the country and said : “People ask me where will water come from, and I tell them the water will come from Central Asia, and I will bring it”.

He said there would be wars over water in the coming days. We have already found others channels for water and Inshallah Balochistan would be the first to benefit from those channels.

Zardari said Pakistan People's party (PPP) had the responsibility to protect people of Balochistan under its umbrella.

He said Balochistan has bright future and "I love Balochistan as much as I love Pakistan itself" while advising Baloch people to keep themselves from being misused.

Talking about the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said said the project would benefit Pakistan wholly and would strengthen entire nation instead of certain parts and departments. He said China is a friendly neighbor and has been supportive.
