What's new

The US is a first-world nation with a third-world rail system

I never said its suitable for the states man, I am just saying US won't be able to build it even if its suitable.

It is a little more complex than some of you put it

I see specific links for HSR being viable
Los Angeles to Las Vegas
Dallas to Austin to Houston
North East corridor
Miami to Central Florida

Might be, but US will never be able to build it, not now not ever, just too much politics and price inflation, US companies need big profit to do things.

This can be driven by Nevada and California state
Los Angeles to Las Vegas

this is probably federal/state government initiative
North East corridor

These are private initiatives given red state politics
Dallas to Austin to Houston
Miami to Central Florida

How about subways? do American city fellas need subways?

Depends upon the city. The population of Boston has declined by over a 1/4 since 1950 with suburbanization even though the population of the area has gone up. The city is struggling to find riders.

To make matters worse 66% of Boston households own a car so the remaining 34% are probably lower income and more likely to take the subway meaning attempting to raise fares to fully cover costs hits lower income people the hardest.
