Exactly this day in 1999, Pakistan Navy's Breguet Atlantique "Flight Atlantic-91" operated by the 29 Squadron [S/N=90, C/N=33] was shot down by a MiG 21 Bis flown by the Late Squadron Leader Bundela.

THE SAD IRONY OF THIS FORUM & PERHAPS PAKISTAN TOO :

Nobody knows their names on this forum !! Here on this forum we see WinCo Abhinandan's name repeated like a holy psalm 10,000 times over 1,000 threads. Statues , photos , large plaques are all over your nation with Abhinandan name and image.

Yet what about these 16 dead ? Did they deserve to be forgotten nameless ? Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan- especially in Pakistan's military !

I strongly hope that someone on this forum can ferret out their names. I think this should have been done 21 years ago.

Contrast this with India and it's dead in the Kargil war:

You are alluding to the following incident: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pakistan_Navy_Atlantic_shootdown

This incident is not related to Kargil War but occurred in isolation about a month later. Kindly amend your post.

It is absolutely incorrect to deny a connection between the Atlantique shootdown of Aug 10th and the Kargil war which ended officially on July 26th! Are you saying that the gap of 14 days is enough to treat this as a separate matter?

In fact , Point 5353 ( the most loved mountain by the Pakistani members of this forum) was fought over , even in August !!

Poor sq ldr bundela died a painful death after remaining paralyzed like a vegetable for years

Cowardice doesn't pay off i guess

So a pilot that flies for the other side deserves to die in a crash? Are you sure you want to go with that despicable stand ?
Or do have the same repulsive feelings for another brave pilot who died in a crash on Mar 11th this year ? Careful boy, you might get lynched by the numerous fans of this particular departed soul !

And have some shame, I've actually asked you this same question ( names of the 16 Shaheeds ) over 3 months ago ! But you were too busy opening threads about street defecation ( remember? The one that got deleted by the Big Mod himself and got you banned ? )

True sneaking in when no one in didnot help . Poor guys have to be buried in India during kargil.

They(IAF) are only good at shooting down unarmed targets that dont fight back but when the other guys(PAF) fight back, these yellow bellied cowardly sons of mangy bitches(IAF) run away with their tails b/w their legs i.e 27 feb 2019. Pardon my french but I could not resist

If I remember correctly an IAF Mig-21 & one IAF Mig-27 were shot down by PAF SAMs when these strayed over Pakistani side in May 1999. Indian version stated that Mig-21 had developed mechanical trouble and had to eject and Mig-27 had gone there to investigate because the Kargil was very close to the LOC, the aircraft could have crossed into Pakistan.

PN Atlantique was also flying very close to the border and therefore provided IAF with the opportunity for revenge and this incidence took place only a month later. An indirect relationship with Kargil? Possibly.

Military personnel are trained to follow orders from their Higher Ups. If a fighter pilot has been ordered to shoot down a plane, he would do so. Despite the fact that he downed an unarmed plane, IMHO a slur on the IAF pilot is uncalled for. The culpability rests solely with the IAF High Command and the Indian Gov't who issued the orders.

Thanks for your valuable input, good Sir.

Although this PN aircraft was on a mission that was not in direct association with Kargil War but this incident certainly give the impression of being a 'revenge' shoot down. Even though the war had ended earlier, atmosphere remained tense and tempers remained inflamed for a while. Unfortunate and sad.

My statement was in relation to a REPORT about the tone and language of the opening post; I simply informed the relevant member to make his opening point more clear in its intended message and less accusatory. I am all for remembering and honoring our dead/heroes in the line of duty.

Above being said, I also advice fellow members to not be trigger-happy with the Report function. Consider reporting when the issue is significant or a Rule is being clearly violated in a post.

I am simply saying that cowardice doesn't pay off. It didn't in case of bundela

And you asking for names of victims of something that happened 21 years ago. Yeah you were asking me few months ago too and my answer is same.

You are frustrated from the pain and humiliation that PAF inflicted to you last year in February and knowing back 16 names won't make that frustration go away. You would have to live with this frustration unless your incompetent aur force actually shoots down a f16

Your avatar is even screen grab from video of mental gymnastics of that joshi guy who was trying like a clown to prove f16 kill

Live with the frustration bharati. Live with it
