Mohammed bin Rashid: The National Program for Programmers is a new step to build our digital economy within our new national plans.. the world is changing.. the speed of digital change is multiplying.. the shape of the economy will be different.. the nature of professions will change.. and survival will be for the most prepared, fast and keep pace with the new changes in our world.

This is going to be important skill for everyone in the future.
The UAE, after the electronic and smart government, will be fully a government and digital country within a few years.. This achievement comes after 50 years of actions, will, giving and ambition, transforming dreams and plans into reality..

I guess i should throw my bachelor in civil engineering out the window and go for programming =/

You have the right skills to go into IT if you want. You donot need a Computer Science Degree to get into IT or Programming. A degree in Science, Technlogy, Engineering or Math ( STEM ) is all you need. You just need to be comfortable thinking logically. If you are ok with math, then you will be fine and most engineering degrees cover math a lot( the skill of mathematical thinking is the key skill - not the math itself ).

Arab countries can build their own Internet ecosystem and at the same time protect their digital sovereignty.

Technically, it is not difficult. It requires investment of capital and time. Of course, Big Western companies will not help you achieve this goal.

I believe that more and more countries will realize that digital sovereignty is a part of national sovereignty.

What's an internet ecosystem

The relevant Frameworks, technologies and applications are all open source nowadays. There's nothing hidden.

Anyway nice initiative, anyone that lays the cement for the road of Arabization deserves to be commended.

The Internet ecosystem is an operating system and a series of applications, the most important of which is social media. Apple is not open source, and gapps is not open source, although aosp is open source.

Since the rise of the Internet, advanced economies such as Europe and Japan have not formed their own Internet ecosystem, because Europe does not have a unified language and Japan’s population is not enough. But the population of Arab countries have a unified language It is enough to maintain an independent Internet ecosystem.

Of course, the United States will use various excuses to prevent this from happening, not only for economic reasons, but also for big data. More importantly, the United States will no longer be able to control public opinion in Arab countries. The Arab Spring will become history.

Makes sense.

But the US can't stop the idea you proposed, just as they can't stop Vkontakte and China's equivalent.

Given globalization and the rise of English among Arabs I don't see their desire to have their own separate internet ecosystem. It doesn't give any technological advantage, it's just going to segregate the Arab world from the west which may have positive cultural retaining effects, you deserve an award for this Arabization plan
