THE U.S. IS LOSING BADLY IN AFGHANISTAN, BUT THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS TELLING AMERICANS LESS

With all the economic pressure, I'm not sure for how long US can stay there. The only reason US voted Trump in was, total economic revamp. They're spending heavily in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan. Even if they've stationed less armed personnel in Afghanistan, they're still bleeding economically.

On top of that, it has tarnished the image of US as a super power. Reason being,

1) Their failure to attain fruitful result in Afghanistan.
2) Their failure to repel Russia in Syria.

Its a big embarrassment for US globally. They've been defeated but they don't want to accept it and have become sore loser.

The whole economic pressure is overblown,USA has recovered from the depression and its economy is very strong though not as dominant as 80s and 90s.USA will remain the most powerful economy if not the aggregate largest one for decades to come.Their tech advances are huge. Its also no longer dependant on arab oil and now produces its own.Their main weakness is the huge debt and dollar dependency, but there is no alternative to it.They are spending too much on military but their spending in afghanistan has declined sharply,so rest assured they can stay there with a few thousand men and airpower without bankrupting themselves for years without breaking a sweat. The US economy is not the same as the poor soviet one,and unlike soviets they have withdrawn most ground forces.Even if they bleed 30 billion a year there its sustainable for a budget of 600 billion. Its the same strategy as one russia followed in syria,no land forces just crippling air strikes .

Even the Democrats in the USA have said USA has lost the war in Afghanistan.

The Afghan Taliban are coming back into power sooner or later.

By lose you mean they have failed to win.But Taliban can't return without a settlement and US permission. They cant make a conventional military advance because they would get crushed from the air,and must continue to engage in insurgency no matter how successful they are at that. The taliban know this and recently published an open letter to the US public to convince the govt to withdraw.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...sh-letter-calling-us-start-afghan-peace-talks

Explain what you mean.
If you are comparing Taliban with PKK that is absolute nonsense. Afghan Taliban are the most legitimate force to rule Afghanistan. Pakistan should not make the same blunder Musharraf made back in 2001. In fact, Pakistan should help to create other Islamic movements in Afghanistan that will lay siege to the Kabul govt. They have to transcend Pashtun proxies and start making strategic alliances with Tajiks and Muslim purists in Nuristan and Kunar. Convince them to turn on the Kabul govt. and attack it from the north and east, while Taliban attack it from the south.
You do know that the Afghan Taliban do not accept the Durand-Khan border just like the NATO created and maintained Kabul government. And the reasons for not accepting the border are purely based on ethnic nationalism...

Well the Afghan Taliban are wrong.

We have discussed this matter to death already.

The Amir of Afghanistan signed the Treaty of Rawalpindi with the British. That treaty never had an expiry date. The UN recognizes the Durand line as the legal border. Even the USA recognizes the Durand line as the legal border.

By just quoting figures you just can't ignore the facts. US hasn't recovered from the depression yet. What you're referring to is a like of " US-Saudi Arabia weapons deal worth $110 billion approx." That's quite colossal isn't it? However, that's just a breather US got. They did like of this deals with a couple other countries as well. You can't say they're out of depression totally. They're working hard but can't achieve it until they're bleeding in war torn countries. By minimizing boots on the ground they'll lose more land until all their efforts go in vain which will lead to their evacuation from Afghanistan.

When Pakistan and Russia start collaborating full swing in Afghanistan, it would be game over for US. They're being bled deliberately by think tanks.

If that's the case then why Talibans have more area under control than the US? I mean come one, just to prove your point don't be so assertive with illogical arguments.

If that's the case then why they never did any suicidal attacks back in the 90s when their power was at peak? Probably you're referring to the Northern Alliance, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I still mean the Afghan Taliban. It is just that they do not wish to use force to achieve their goals (at least until they have secured Afghanistan and built her up). But still in their hearts of hearts they do not accept the Durand-Khan Border. Now it remains whether they wish to have an equal relationship between Pakistan with open borders or "lord over the DaalKhors" as in the days of the Durrani empire.

You people have been claiming the end is near for USA in afghanistan for a decade.Show me 1 major city the taliban have retaken except kunduz for a brief time before losing it.They control half the countryside because ANA don't have the numbers to hold areas.Taliban don't have the firepower to advance into the cities and any attempt can be shattered by USAF.On the other hand ANA and USA don't have enough boots on the ground and can't defeat taliban either. Its a stalemate.USA has largely recovered from depression, not fully ..but its economy is growing well for its size. There is really no great bleed anymore, same situation as russia in syria.Just a few squadrons of airpower supporting local cannon fodder on the ground.Russia will do everything to undermine USA but never help Taliban, because radical fundamentalist taliban influence in afghanistan is bad news for its muslim-inhabited territories in central asia.

I'm not an expert on the matter under discussion but I'm kinda 100% sure that you're referring to Northern Alliance. That's why Pakistan supported Taliban to setup a government there. Its the Northern Alliance that don't recognize Durand line.

US is surviving on the bail out packages coming in from defense deals. That's one big reason why US wants India to buy equipment from them, does it ring any bells? Its a breather US is trying to use to maintain its balance else will fall for sure.
Jus to let you know the BBC study shows the Taliban are now in full control of 14 districts (that's 4% of the country) and have an active and open physical presence in a further 263 (66%), significantly higher than previous estimates of Taliban strength. Still you ask me what major cities they've taken back from US? I mean come on. Its like grapes are sour. US can't control 50% of the country and what they say is? We don't want that much control. I mean clearly, US is being a sore loser blaming Pakistan for everything.
Russia will do everything to topple the military prowess and supremacy of US even if they've to support Talibans via Pakistan. Believe me they're all geared up to do so. Its Pakistan's call on what to do.

The problem here is not who is winning the war in Afghanistan, but who is winning the war there on their terms, and no one else's. Victory for anyone not incorporating Pakistan's vision for Afghanistan is simply not tolerable in Pindi. Similarly, any solution that does not include the Pentagon's vision for Afghanistan is anathema in DC.

there was this thought going on in the beginning to just have a hands off approach towards afghanistan provided india isn’t given a role which crosses our red lines.seems like americans crossed that red line.
now the question is does pakistan has the capacity to actually stirr the things like it was able to do in past.
some time i even wonder why would pakistan even want americans to leave the area when the milking cow is just in ur door step the only issue here is tht cow is listening to some other milk man these days

That's fine if they don't recognize it then they can yield their land to kpk Pakistan. As a result Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and south Tajikistan will be the newest neighbors of pakistans. Afaik they want freedom of movement across the border not a claim on kpk.

Freedom of movement can only be possible if NATO leaves...and she is going to be there for decades.
