They practically did. Bangladesh has always been a satellite state of India's since 71. India doesn't officially reunify Bangladesh into it because of 2 reasons: 1. it would invalidate their "moral justification" for intervening in 71 and going to war with Pakistan, and 2. they don't want Bangladesh, a heavily Muslim country, part of India.
When Hindus complain about partition they aren't complaining about 2/3 of the Muslim population being taken out of India, they are complaining about the loss of territory. And really, they are actually complaining about the loss of West Pakistan - Lahore, the Indus, West Punjab for the Sikhs, Nankana, Pakistani Kashmir, and resource rich Balochistan, the geographic value of where Pakistan is situated, etc., they could care less about Bangladesh. Just ask them.
Plus, they complain about a powerful nemesis to their west (Pakistan), a nuclear armed state. Bangladesh is hardly a security threat to India.
We don't want to ask them.
Their opinion is inconsequential, as such it doesn't matter to us.
Maybe to you, an entire nation that seems to exist with the singular goal of countering India, what Indians think matters.
