The story of two former Baloch nationalists who were among the lawyers killed in Quetta bombing
Both Sangat and Chakar were successful lawyers and were destined to earn fame in the field of law and possibly in politics as well

On 8th of August Quetta lost many gems of the legal fraternity such as Baz Muhammad Kakar, Barrister Adnan Kasi, Dawood Kasi, amongst others. At the same time it also lost two Baloch lawyers who almost had similar life stories.
These two Baloch lawyers were Sangat Jamaldini, son of Senator Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini, and Chakar Rind.
Chakar Rind was born in year 1978 in Turbat city of Balochistan. He completed his LLB in 2004 and had law experience of more than 10 years. Sangat Jamaldini was born in 1981 and he completed his law graduation from Lahore in 2009 and was working as a lawyer since then.

What’s common to both of these lawyers his that both came from Baloch nationalist backgrounds. Chakar Rind was an active member of BSO-Pajjar during his student life and remained active in student politics till joining the legal profession.
Sangat Jamaldini was also radical during his youth years and he was a member of BSO-Azad back in the days when that organization was not banned by the state. Just like Chakar, Sangat remained an active part of Baloch nationalistic student politics till them time he entered professional life.
It’s interesting to note that both of the slain Baloch lawyers left the student politics when it took a dangerous turn. Several Baloch student leaders who continued with nationalistic politics ultimately lost their lives. However, Sangat and Chakar quit that type of student politics and joined mainstream professional life of the country.

Chakar Rind is credited for providing relief to the affectees of Mirani dam in Turbat. The affectees of Mirani dam were promised compensation at the time of construction of the dam in Musharraf era. However the promises were not made good till 2009 when Chakar Rind filed a constitutional petition against Ministry of Water and Power. Based on his active legal perusal of this case the affectees of the dam were compensated to some extent. He filed constitutional petitions to achieve this end not once but twice.
Gorham Rind, younger brother of Chakar says:
“He never compromised on his principles and raised awareness among the common people about their fundamental rights.”
He adds that Chakar fought for basic rights of people through his profession without any benefits.

Chakar Rind was a member of ruling National Party (NP) for a long time. He was not happy with the current leadership of the part just like hundreds of other workers in Makran Division.
Imran Baloch advocate, a close companion of Chakar, says that Chakar was deceived by NP after using him as a dedicated worker for years and he [Chakar] never forgot that.
On the other hand, Sangat Jamaldini was also an active lawyer who was ever willing to help the people who were in need of legal aid. Just like Chakar, he also helped people without any greed of benefits.
Ameer Jan Jamaldini, younger brother of Sangat, says:
“Sangat was the backbone of our family and was looking after all tribal and social affairs of our family.”
Ameer Jan, who was just 18 months younger than Sangat, further adds:
“He [Sangat] always said to me to settle down abroad because He is there to look after family and other matters.”
Although, Sangat was the son of Senator Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini a stalwart of BNP, he had not joined any political party till now and was busy in bar politics. In the upcoming elections of High Court Bar Association, Sangat was the candidate for Finance Secretary.

Both Sangat and Chakar were successful lawyers and were destined to earn fame in field of law and possibly in politics as well. However, it was not acceptable to a group of miscreants who would never be known.
On the fateful day of 8th August, terrorists wreaked havoc in Quetta city by killing over 50 lawyers including Sangat Jamaldini and Chakar Rind. According to the claims of their respective families, both Sangat and Chakar died due to excessive blood loss and not getting emergency medical aid in time.
So, two Baloch lawyers who did not follow the path of several other Baloch students and joined mainstream lost their lives in a terrorist attack. Government not only failed to protect them from the terrorist but also could not provide them the medical aid which could have saved their lives.
