The Spitfire is one of those aircraft from World War 2 that remains omnipotent in popular memory. Let's have a closer look at this aircraft and what made it tick. Featuring MK356 a genuine D-Day Veteran.

Britain has a fantastic history building state of the art and effective planes, one of the few nations on the planet which can make advanced military turbofans and commercial engines. The future looks great with Tempest and others

Still looking for its scale model in Pakistan Spitfire and F 86 always in my wish list also this

Spitfire versus Messerschmit Bf 109 was battle for the ages

The honour is shared with Hans von Ohain.

No he doesn't and it's a pretty well known fact that Frank Whittle was already working on his design in the late 1920s and openly patented the design in 1930, a full seven years before Ohain's design ran.

Ohain's design was the first to see realisation with a prototype.

The development of the Jet Engine can be traced back over 2000 years.
Hans von Ohain made significant contributions to the internal workings of the modern jet engine.
When Frank Whittle and Hans von Ohain met after the war and discussed their research they agreed that it made sense to call them co-inventors of the jet engine.
That is good enough for me.
