The area of central and northeast India from Bihar which borders Nepal to Andhra Pradesh constitutes the Red Corridor of India some forty percent of rural India.

This area is also the forested and jungle area of India and it also happens to be the area where the poorest and most hunger stricken area of India which according to Binyak Sen and Arundhati Roy should be declared famine zones by the Indian Government.

However the Indian Government has chosen food has a weapon of war to fight the Maoist and Adivasi rebellion.

This area of the Red Corridor also happens to have rich mineral resources like coal and iron ore, bauxite, gold and diamonds. The Indian Government and State Governments has signed hundreds of Memorandums of Understanding ( MOU’S) with Multi National Corporations and Indian compradors selling both land and resources under the feet of the people who live there.

The Maoists have also operated in this area for 30 years originally as separate groups like Peoples War and Party Unity and Maoist Communist Centre. They have long campaigned for the defence of the Adivasis and the unified party in 2004 launched a campaign against the Multi National Companies and the Indian Compradors.

Hence this is the area of the greatest sympathy for the Maoists who are defending the Adivasis people against the Genocidal onslaught of the Indian Government with Operation Green Hunt. This is an Indian Government that would happily starve its Adivasis population to death so it can steal the minerals and resources for the MNC’s and the compradors.

Interesting piece but it obviously has a bias. Nonetheless I would like some Indian posters here to explain just how much powers the Maoists really wield and their influence in the "red corridor".

Only in jungles, they even don't have influence in urban district headquarters of respective affected districts.

I don't think maoists have vast presence in andhra pradesh and karnataka only major states affected by them are bihar, bengal, chattisgarh, UP and orissa

UP is not Naxal affected.

It's just these states colored in red are effected with the problem, but it's just the jungles and the remotest areas of these states

Isn't Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka cleared off from Naxals a decade ago and even West Bengal had mostly been cleared of Naxalites recently. In west Bengal only three districts were facing problems.

Tall talk from a Bharti who doesn't even know what his own leaders are saying.
As early as November, 2004, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh declared that the Maoist insurgency is the single biggest threat to India's security. More than seven years have passed, yet we do not have a clear and coherent policy for dealing with this threat. Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are the States affected by Maoist terror.

The most important thing is that Kashmir should get freedom first and Inshallah they will get it. NE & sikkim are also not part of this artificial state anyway so they are bound to become independent, its just a matter of time. Don't know about naxals, but if they are fighting for India's poor and less privileged then they will also ultimately get success.
