How long are we going to fool ourselves? That is my question to each and every Pakistani. Do we love this nation? Will we stand-up for it? Will we ever throw away the shroud of ethnicity, tribalism, community, languages, faith, class, and creed and become PAKISTANIS just for once? Will we save Pakistan…? Please read on if you will! Or just move on to the next story if you cannot listen to reasoning [PERIOD]

Our precious Pakistan has been savagely gang raped, plundered, decimated, and left to die by our so called leaders. History never lies… It shows us the mirror. I will again show you with history how our hypocrite leaders are responsible for Pakistan’s state… I wouldn’t even go in to the current state of affairs. I will leave that for another day. It all started with Ghulam Mohammad who had suspended the constitution with the help of Justice Munir Mohammad and enforced emergency rule over Pakistan. Inkander Mirza then imposed the first Martial Law on Pakistan (do not forget that that was validated by the Supreme Court of Pakistan).

He was immediately disposed-off by the Army Chief Ayub Khan, who took over as chief martial law administrator. He ruled Pakistan till 1969. I still hear my elders call this era of Pakistan the best. I wondered why? Ayub Khan’s Pakistan had presidential system. He did not care for the Mullahs at all and he even dropped “Islamic” from the name and called it the “Republic of Pakistan”. During his era Pakistan witnessed rapid development. PIA was among the best airlines in the world. Most major worldwide airlines flew to Karachi with stopovers between Europe and Asia! Our universities had students from all over Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. Islamabad was built from scratch as the new capital of Pakistan. Pakistan military was training officers from all over the world in their staff college in Quetta. Prosperity and developments were very apparent. Do not get me wrong… All was not well with Pakistan.

Aggartalla conspiracy was hatched. Political differences were widening. Some say that Ayub era elections were marred by corruptions. Fatma Jinnah (Quaid’s sister) actually should have been elected the first female prime minister of Pakistan, but Ayub robbed her of the post by rigging the elections. A people’s mass agitation forced Ayub to resign in 1969, and he gave the power to his Army chief, Yahya Khan who imposed another Judiciary sanctioned Martial Law in Pakistan. During Yahay’s two years rule, Pakistan lost its East wing. East Pakistan became Bangla Desh. Pakistan lost a major war with India. 90,000 Pakistani military and civilians were made prisoners of war in India. These were some of the most painful times for Pakistan. The only thing good that Yahya did was to hold free and fair elections. Bhutto’s PPP and Mujib’s Awami League were the two parties that won majority of seats. But overall majority went to Mujib. Some say that Bhutto did not want to give power to a Bangali (a lessor-Pakistani) to run the country, so he was the one responsible for the breakup of the Eastern wing. He would not let the Assemblies convene! In 1971, Bhutto took over as the first civilian Chief Martial Law Administrator. This was the start of Pakistan’s shift towards fundamentalism.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is still a hero for many. He was my hero as well! But with time I got wiser. Bhutto destroyed Pakistan in many ways than one. His biggest sin was that he joined hands with the Mullahs and gave them power that they never deserved. It changed a tolerant, peaceful, and progressive Pakistan forever. If I go on any further; this will turn into a long thesis. But I will share a few more of Bhutto’s screw ups! Nationalizing education and industries along with his land reforms- All were disasters of the highest proportions. The irony about education was that some schools were left alone so the children of elite can still get better education. His own school going children went to the American School in Islamabad. Why didn’t they attend a government public school? The flourishing industries came to a stop still. Pakistan suffered in all sectors. His achievement was that he negotiated peace with India and got back the 90,000 prisoners of war. And that’s where it ends! His demise came at the hands of the same mullahs who he went out of his element, to please. Zia-ul-Haq was the pinnacle of disaster for Pakistan.

He destroyed anything and everything that Bhutto did not touch. He pushed Pakistan to the depths of fundamentalism, and Pakistan continues to suffer. During the governments of Nawaz and Benazir, Pakistan only suffered loot and plunder. In all fairness, Nawaz Shareef must get one achievement; the Motorway between Lahore and Islamabad. And once again that’s it! Both of these leaders and their families filled their Swiss and Cayman Island banks with loots from our beloved Pakistan. It is fair to say that during Musharraf’s era we saw many projects that contributed towards Pakistan’s infrastructure and boosted economic growth. I think his biggest success was giving Pakistan a local government that brought about growth and development on grass root level. His first six years saw phenomenal growth. But his biggest blunder was that he thought that Pakistan would not survive without him. He became power hungry and the thought of losing it made him go and make a pact with the Lucifer himself. He sold his soul with the NRO. Today, he is reaping what he sowed! We can debate that the treatment handed out to him is right or wrong, but he did go against the biggest crook in the history of Pakistan, Iftakhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

In conclusion I must say that Pakistan’s problems stems from each and every one of us. We have to mend ourselves. Become honest – Pakistani first! Pakistani wants “Sharia” to govern itself. Do they even know that their constitution is based on Quran and Sunnah. The other question is that we want ‘Sharia,” but do we know what “Sharia” really is. Sharia actually offers dignity and freedom to all. Sharia does not mean flogging someone publicly, cutting off a thieves hand, killing because someone does not follow your version of the faith. As a Pakistani we have to understand that the universal law of humanity is what Islam teaches all of us. We cannot be good Muslims if we cannot be a good human being first. Once we understand this universal truth, no one can deter our resolve. Pakistanis please think…the next few days are very important for our nation. We go to a poll for the survival of Pakistan. Please think and vote for the candidate and party that will help save Pakistan and not their bank accounts and their coffer.

Pakistan Zindabad!!!

Bhai, why did you post a random blog written by nobody, it does not even have a single comment.

.
I found this blog very interesting as it gives us the true history of Pakistan. The Blog talks about Zia totally radicalizing the country... Bangladesh currently is going through some tough times because of the vindictive nature of its current leader Husena Wajid whoi happens to be Sheikh Mujib's only surviving child. Vindictiveness is in the DNA of people of this region especially the Muslims. They do not know how for forgive and move on… You see it happening in Pakistan to Pervez Musharraf who is being treated as a petty criminal just because of a vindictive Chief Justice.

For an Indian it may be a random blog... but does pertain to Pakistan and Pakistanis. It is very important for Pakistanis to know about their histories and their leaders especially before the elections.

how do you know its telling the truth. It could be spreading misinformation. How do you even know its pakistani who wrote it, could be an Indian.
There is a reason why we follow mainstream media. Blogs are okey for opinion, but there are thousands of pakistani blogs, one has to choose them based on some criteria.

I feel I do have the power to see the rights from wrongs... and as an educated person with a few college degrees I am able to differentiate between misinformation and good information... But does it make a difference if the TRUTH comes from an Indian(I guess you are confessing that all Indians spread misinformation) or a Pakistani.
