The overpopulation thread

.
Shortage of water and food can be minimized by lessening wastage by sharing it with those who are in need.

It was a tradition of our holy prophet salAllahu wassalm, whenever food was served, he always invited his companions and followers to eat with him from his platter.

It is our belief that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala provides "rizq" to every living being exist in the universe. So "rizq" is destined for whosever coming in this world. Creation of living and non-living is also destiny. Neither any power other than Allah can create nor stop the creation.

Therefore birth of human cannot be controlled. If someone is destined to come in this world then he/she will come and no power on this earth can stop.

It is a wrong apprehension that population control is the answer to shortage of water and food. It is we who should be blamed for wasting these precious commodities blessed by Allah. If we share some food from our platter with our neighbors, needy people, poor relatives and friends, there will be no wastage.

Always remember, Allah's treasure is never ending. If one shares with the needy and provide alms to seek Allah's pleasure, Allah in return of this gesture bless that person 70 times more than what he spent.

Here I want to share a story about Hazrat Moosa alaihi wasallam

Hazrat Musa and Poor man Story!!!

Once a poor man approached Hazrat Moosa A.S and requested that the messenger of Allah pray for the increase in his food sustenance. He said that since Hazrat Moosa A.S was able to converse with Allah, Allah would heed his prayers. When Hazrat Moosa A.S appeared in the Lord’s presence, he put forward the man’s request and Allah answered that the man was fated to have little sustenance.

When the man found out that he was fated to have little sustenance, he requested that Hazrat Moosa A.S pray to Allah once more and ask for all the sustenance in his life to be given to him at one time. Hazrat Moosa A.S then prayed for the man and his prayer was accepted. The man received all his blessings at once. The poor man then opened a free kitchen and announced that whomever was unable to arrange food for themselves, could eat at the free kitchen to their hearts content.

Hazrat Moosa A.S was very surprised by the man’s behavior and even tried to talk to him regarding his actions, since his sustenance was limited. But when the man did not listen, Hazrat Moosa A.S returned, saddened by the poor man’s behavior.

A week later, when Hazrat Moosa A.S passed by the kitchen, he saw that it was still up and running. After a month, Hazrat Moosa A.S visited the kitchen and the third time, he visited the kitchen after six months.
As always, he saw many people eating at the food temple. Hazrat Moosa A.S thought that due to the man’s generosity, his food should have been finished by now, but he was wrong.

Hazrat Moosa A.S, being surprised and astonished asked Allah how was it possible that such little sustenance was lasting so long. Allah replied that undoubtedly the man was to have little sustenance. However, it is a rule in Allah’s heaven, that if a person spends in Allah’s path, he will be rewarded ten times in the world and ninety times in the world hereafter. This man also fell under this rule and so for his service to Allah, he is rewarded ten times in the world and will be rewarded ninety times in the world hereafter.

Yeah they still will- to make way for more people. The Earth is not infinite. Also increasing food increases the carrying capacity; therefor creating more mouths.
Yet, we are still centuries away before we really hit any genuine limit on agricultural output even with today's mainstream agricultural practices.

Half of the food in the world is wasted, with most of it in the West. As I said before, even without having everybody subsisting on a diet of seaweed, the earth can house close to one trillion people in a relative comfort.

And by the time we will hit that, we will have many times more productive agriculture, and industry, and be probably already making city sized space stations, thus obviating the scarcity of land as such.

Industry is only sustainable in small numbers. This is really a suicidal idea for humanity and the rest of the planet.

Again, you're posting old videos with senile old men in them...

You need to update your research.

Btw, Daniel Quinn is a author......a writer....what does he know about overpopulation??

Is he a scientist, an engineer, a manager at a farm?? Nope...

No but he did explain it. David Pimentel is an insect ecologist and made contributions to other ecology.

Just because you can grow food on a piece of land it doesn't mean you do. We are already in the midst of the sixth extinction. The consequences of that extinction and CO2 buildup is unknown at this time. The prudent thing to do is to limit the global population growth. China has done its part of limiting its population growth.

I doubt the earth can support 15 billion people. Look at all the wars that break out in countries with high fertility rates.

A big country needs a lot of people. More people = more power. Pakistan need to increase its population to match Indian troop numbers in case of mobilisation.

Ideally, Pakistan need to overtake USA on population numbers to become the third largest nation to secure its future in the 21st century.

21st century will be the century of the mega, and giganations.

In 30 years, Pakistan's population will reach 400 million people, and it will be the point where it will overtake USA. If USA's population growth will slow further from the current 0.5%, this will happen even earlier.

The black swan event here which is very obvious, but not talked about is the possibility of immigration flow reversals.

It may now sound ridiculous that any brown country will see a positive migration, and even more unbelievable that a currently wealthy Western country can lose not only its immigration allure, but see a population drain, but this is already happening with Chinese, and to part wealthiest part of Indian diaspora. Here on this forum we see even Pakistani members sometimes anticipating good times ahead, and keeping one foot back in Pakistan just for such scenario.

Countries with high populations of recent 1st, 2nd generation migrants themselves have much more mobile populations. People who come to wealthy counties for money, may well as easily leave them for money, and opportunity too.

The reduction in fertility is not an automatic reduction in the population growth. There are countries with skyrocketing populations, and relatively low fertility. There are even countries where the two were inversely proportional.

Remember, most of the world had enormous childhood mortality, some times above 50%, and early mortality in general.

In the most of Africa today, well, even in some poorer places in China, people are quite likely to die from some bug, or trivial diseases mortality from which were near nonexistent in the West for a more than a century. Malaria, diphtheria, or typhus will be a perfect example.

Now imagine, such places gaining minimal economic prosperity, and now being able to afford at least things like antibiotics. In an instant, they slash their non-age mortality from double digits, to near zero.

Even with 3 children per woman, you will almost double the population in 30 years.

IMHO
The problem is not with the over population but....

We failed to educate the majority of population
We failed to guide the majority of population
(even literate and well educated needs guidance at different stages of life)

We failed to Manage the majority of population

Resultantly, we have more problem creators on earth than trouble shooters.

Eventually, we see it rather simple just to produce less humans

because we failed to do the things correct at first.

To do the things, one thing we can do is, we need to deprive off the riches from their riches and put a bar that No one can posses more than a million dollars or whatever is required for a tensionless workable life.
