The new found Russia Pak friendship: When did it all start?

Yes, the ties may have been there all along the history. But you know the new spark in the relation… When did it exactly start? I think it was in 2014 or 2015, when Modi was still new to the post of PM. Someone remarked about Modi mishandling the job and remarked that before Modi it could never be imagined that Russia may sell arms to Pakistan. I think that is where it all started.

i dont see any friendship, we are moving toward normalizing diplomatic relations which were cold since soviet era. our relations with Russia are equal to what we have with Sri Lanka, Iran or US. till now Pakistan have only Three firends which include China, Turkey and Saudis (GCC).. Russia havent done anything for Pakistan, neither us.

There are no friendships between countries. Every country is on their own. The country will help each other only till the time they serve each other interests either monetarily or something else.
Take the case of US of A and UK. They have been thick as thieves from great war times (WW1) but US of A didn't supported UK during 1956 suez canal invasion against the Egypt.

Russia after sanctions needs market to sell its arm nothing more nothing less. China will use Pakistan to bog down India to its neighbour but will not let Pakistan cross the threshold as it doesn't wants other South korea and Japan in its neighbourhood. Saudis will support Pakistan till the time Pakistan military machine is helping them if any country offers Saudis the same along with nuclear shield then Pakistan can surely kiss their *** whatever Pakis want. Pakistan will stick around all these countries till it is getting benefited in terms of soft loans from China and Saudi and arms and weaponry from Russia. Previously it was USA now it is void over there anybody can fill that void Russia, China or whomever has that capability to do that.

Here is the reality on CPEC and Russia Pakistan:

1)In his Annual address to Russian Parliament three weeks back, President Putin specifically called India a foreign policy priority and privileged strategic partner whereas he made zero mention of Pakistan.

2)Russian Special envoy Kabulov specifically called cooperation with Pakistan low level & purely commercial compared to strategic one with India.

3)In the past four months while Russia signed several deals for sales of defence equipment to India worth billions, but publicly rejected sale of Su-35 to Pakistan and only sold 70s era Mi-35s.

4)Putin's Foreign policy document for 2016 specifically mentioned India as a high priority to enhance relations but no mention of Pakistan relations.

5)In an episode of public humiliation for Pakistan, Russia publicly rejected reports of Russia joining CPEC.

6) Russia sent only 70 soldiers to its exercise with Pakistan but sent over 200 to its exercise with India.

Kiddo, Russia sold helicopters to Pakistan even in 1980s, so no big deal.
Also no direct sale agreement of RD-93 signed so far.

Russia has taken serious objection to the 'leak' by the Pakistani authorities, in their media, about the visit of Alexander Bortnikov, Head of the Russian External Intelligence service, or the FSB, to Pakistan between November 25-27, 2016.

The visit which was designed to garner Pakistani support for operations in Allepo, Syria, was compromised by pro-Saudi factions within the Pakistani establishment, according to informed sources.

Also no direct sale agreement of RD-93 signed so far.

What ever Russia rejects to Pakistan can be hand via the alternate route of China..later on Russia will join and sign directly with Pakistan over stepping any Indian objection...that is how we secured RD93 engines for JF17 and a lot of hardware in the future as well.

Russian ambassador did not call it low level co-operation.. this is a figment of Indian embarrassment..what he precisely did was took shots on Indian randi rona!
