Pardon the Faux pau.. I did mean that the robustness of the alternative system is being improved against deciphering of the encryption and multiple techniques may be incorporated to make it difficult to isolate the hopping of the signal.

There will be a limited purchase of the Harris sets.. and that too will end up being used for the eastern front.
The western front will see something entirely different. The Americans aren't trusted with anything.

I don't know about Eastern front but let me assure you that Harris is the company which is most USED, TRUSTED and SUCCESSFUL on Western front. HQ FC, KPK and probably, GHQ too, is completely satisfied with Harris

Yeah that is why officers serving or served on the western front are saying and amazed that how the hell Taliban (TTP specifically) get to know about their plans / movements in some instances in advance even though communication is done on these frequency hopping radio sets.

TTP guys have equipment through which they can listen to commercial mobile communication, they have equipment to listen to normal radio communication of the forces, and now they are able to listen in to the frequency hopping sets too, but again there is conflict to this idea, some are of the opinion that they have the equipment through which they can intercept while some are of the opinion that interception is being done by someone else and intel is provided to them from across the border. Time will tell.

But for record, PA is not gonna be using just one communication system, they are into something else too.

Beyond the tactical radios, I am more concerned about secure communication at the staff and strategic level. There have been news reports about the US listening into communications at GHQ and SPD. This is going to be very difficult to counter unless we stop relying on any Western and COTS equipment.

sir there are more than just one company... Harris (including Communicator's Globe), Motorola, iCom, etc. But Harris is most widely used and preferred.

No they haven't failed, but sometimes the penetration is up to a certain level, not till the top and in come cases it goes further up.

What i am trying to ask is that if the above thing u said.Is it the official Position of Army ? If it is then doesn't it imply that so far ISI hasn't been able to penetrate the talibs.
