Whether one visits pdf or watch any current affairs show on/from Pakistan, three-four topics are constantly being discussed; panama leaks and corruption, US drone strike and sovereignty, budget, economy and borrowings, political situation in Pakistan, Afghanistan and RAW, Baluchistan and terrorism, CPEC and trade, F-16/aid blocked by US congress and failure of our foreign policy and etc...It is so much info and so diverse that it becomes difficult to focus...However we need to identify what's the most important and rather what is posing an existential threat to the nation. IMHO, the corruption is the most significant issue that needs to be address urgently with highest priority, the flight of capital has been happening at unprecendented scale and speed. The corrupt elite is sucking the resources which is weakening the nation so much so that now it faces existential threat... Imagine the scale that when we hear or read about a new scam with less than a few billion Rs, we term it small scale and go the next page or news. But if we see how many life saving drugs can be purchased from that money, we can easily equate the corruption culprit to a mass murderer. So now we identified the issue...A million dollar rather a billion dollar questions..how to solve it or who can solve it because the people we are talking about are sitting the government and institutions are so weak and dependent that they can't apprehend the sitting ministers and prime minister, the president is toothless and feeble while the judiciary is a silent spectator...the same judiciary that disqualifed as sitting prime minister in the previous govt for not writing the letter to the swiss govt or took suo moto action against samosa prices...but now they are silent....what's the difference...now it is Mian Sahab...Army chief has warned the govt also but perhaps that was not enough...though the army did not spend a lot time in jumping over the walls of the PM house on Oct 12 when their chief was threatened......so who should we look up to? or are we being forced to take a direct action, something similar to that happened in France in 1789 and will that solve the issue or complicate it even more ...are the unseen forces trying to create something Arab spring in Pakistan. Let's ponder over it with sincere and serious comments.

Stop giving attention to US and its statments, they just somehow wants to justify its occupations/foriegn policies but in the end they will do the same walk of shame like they did in iraq
. Pakistan main concern is corruption which is more dangerous then terrorism, infact terrorism is related to corruption

A very honest assessment of current political situation of your country.

All the issues mentioned as options are really important and to vote for any, as the most pressing one may not be easy.

These issues have plagued the nation and they cannot be resolved overnight. A French revolution kind of a solution, in a Country possessing Strategic and Tactical weapons and having many extremist groups, may not be the liking of the rest of the world.

If you watch closely many issues are interlinked and solving some of the issues will automatically solve many other issues.

To me, Pakistan should URGENTLY focus on Electoral Reforms and Modern Education

Educated people will not be misguided by politician's false promises and paid media propaganda. Free and Fair elections would eventually bring out many good leaders to the fore.

It will take some time but eventually People will elect honest nationalist leaders to lead your Nation. A Jinnah like leader can fix the rest of the problems much quicker that you think.

Hope your nation has a very bright future.

Regards

You are right they are important but in different time frames...modern education is the long important but on the time scales of decades and it should a permanent policy and resolve of the state of Pakistan. But currently, the corruption needs immediate attention from all the stake holders including the military, judiciary, bureaucracy, politicians, media and the most importantly the people of Pakistan. I know French rev. like solution is neither possible nor good because bloodshed and carnage seldom beget good results. However there is a general feeling among masses that they are being squeezed into that situation. Even electrol reforms are essential but those can wait....the flight of capital not only needs to be arrested but also reversed. Because if we bring some of the 300-500 billion USDs back into Pakistan, we do not need to beg for loans, and suffer humiliation for aid from USA. We can get independence only if we are economically independent. From my personal experience, I got my economic independence at age of 19 from my parents despite there was no such pressure or need from my family and I got a treatment of a grown up by most of my friends and family. The same goes for a country, if Pakistan wants to be treated independent and sovereign, it needs to win its economic independence and the easiest way to achieve that is too arrest corruption and bring back the looted money.

Congrats for being a self made man.

But it took you 19 years to become independent and I presume that education and right atmosphere also helped.

Well its your Country and whatever the masses will decide will eventually happen. I am for a slow and lasting peaceful solution rather than a bloody coo.

Thanks. Yes it takes time and it was my concious decision at the age of 16 to be independen and started working towards that goal. Slow and peaceful...only if we heading in the right direction but unfortunately right now the country is on totally a wrong path...the corruption is being arrested but the large fish are being allowed to swim free...and that's not in the right direction.

I have a question. We blame corrupt politicians and bureaucrats for our problems but we fail to realize
that these politicians are not aliens but they they come from the people. So isn't it the fault of the Pakistani society?
How many people(could include me and you) in Pakistan from all walks of society would not do corruption if elevated to high position? (Note: The lust for money and power takes down even the best of men.)

corruption and incompetence is the mother of all crises. why are we in a sorry state of affairs? all because of corruption and incompetence, whether it is law and order, education, energy crises, even terrorism.

They do come from Pakistanis and not all politicians and bureaucrats are corrupt and believe me majority of Pakistanis are honest. First the corruption needs to be dissected into different scales and each one has dits motivations, many people are forced to do corruption like the poor police constables who have to work under inhuman circumstances and get disgracefully low salaries and still there a large number of constables who are not corrupt. Though even this petty corruption should not in the society but a lot of this can be removed by restructuring the payscales and adjusting the minimum salary levels accounting for the inflation as per realistic needs of a person. The second step can be adopting more transparency and use of IT, there should not be a direct cash payments rather all transactions should be online and directly into the institutions/banks.
But what I'm concerned with is the corruption at the top level...Do you know about 80-20 principle? I guess in Pakistan the corruption is like 10-90 or even 5-95 principle....i.e. 95% of the weath has been looted by 5% corrupt elite which includes politicians, bureaucrats and retired/serving military officers. I know many people in Paksitan at the very top level of each institution who are clean and honest people even in grade 21-22, in military and even among politicians. I'm sure I won't do corruption since I have earmed enough through legitimate means and at still a young age and I believe in hereafter and facing my Rub, my Creator on the day of judgement for each and every action I took in my life.

Totally agreed with you until u write 'elevated'......
from poor 'slum', to elite every one is corrupt, only Issue is general realization of People.

Kunda System almost every one is Involved? or not?
Illegal Activities like The Most common and Important Running Generators on Natural Gas?
Bribe Police for every illegal act, how many wear helmets? how many have license? Specially Bikers?
if some one can start the counting we can find in millions seriously millions of such things that needs to be fixed, and as a nation we can do it..... but we are Pakistan a free nation over free i must say?

Yes it seems I forgot to mention that. I believe the only solution is education which includes moral enrichment as well
