Throughout the history of South Asia there were a lot of great Dynasties which originated
in different parts of South Asia and which dominated the major parts of South Asia. But which states were the most powerful of South Asia during ancient and medieval period? The recorded
history of South Asia starts with the establishment of the Magadha Dynasty in the 5th century BC in eastern India.
Here is a list of the most dominant of ancient and medieval South Asia:
5th century BC: Eastern India Magadha Dynasty

2nd century BC-1st century CE: Southern India Satavahana Dynasty
2nd century CE: Northwestern India Kushan Empire
