The Mitsubishi Mirage Is the Worst New Car You Can Buy

Cause muricans like to drive around in gas guzzlin v8s and big a$$ trucks to compensate for what they lack downstairs. All the while preaching tree hugging to the rest of the world.

I'm pretty sure most European cars manufactures have models bigger than a top selling Honda Civic. Although admittedly the Civic seems to be morphing into a larger car.

. . .
Their is mostly based on compacts. Not the crappy kind either

. .
whatever name people give it if we ignore truck/suv sales the Honda Civic has been in the top 10 in sales every year for probably the last 30 years.
True. Then the crown belongs to Toyota Camry for the last 15 years as the top selling sedan in America. Camry really deserves it.

Yep, the Camry has been king for a long time but the writing is on the wall for sedans as the compact SUV is pushing them out.

The era of the family sedan is coming to an end?
This isn’t the first time we’ve reported on the existential threat of the sedan and it certainly won’t be the last. Only now, however, we’ve learned which crossover is currently the main culprit that’s literally eating away at sedan sales, the Nissan Rogue. That’s right. The Rogue, a crossover that has not only surpassed the Altima as Nissan’s best-selling model, but is also symbolic of crossovers killing the sedan as a whole.

According to Automotive News, crossover sales account for "roughly one in every three vehicles sold since October 2016, with the Nissan Rogue driving to become the top-selling nonpickup in America." In fact, crossover sales have increased by 58 percent to more than 5.6 million sold in 2016 alone. At the same time, car sales have experienced a decrease in sales by 7.8 percent. This sales trend has shown no sign of slowing down, with "1.4 million of the 4 million vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2017" being crossovers. But it’s the Nissan Rogue that’s symbolic here, also because it has surpassed the Toyota Camry so far this year to become the best-selling nonpickup.
Yes, the once mighty Camry sedan has met its match – not only from a competing Japanese brand, but also a crossover. Industry analysts are not particularly surprised by the crossover sales surge, but they weren’t expecting the Nissan Rogue to be leading the charge. "Rogue has been surprising," stated Kelly Blue Book analyst Tim Fleming. "Almost 40,000 units in March – that’s big." How has Nissan made the Rogue into number one? Mainly because it’s a good product, plain and simple, but also due to sales incentives, with up to $2,820 off per unit. Clearly Nissan has done its homework and created a volume seller here, which is fine, but the era of the typical family sedan is clearly declining. It’s now the era of the family crossover.

You'd be surprised at the huge list of many major car manufactures and models that have fallen out of the American market due to perceived perpetual crappiness.

For instance Suzuki stopped selling cars in 2012.
Mitsubishi still sells cars but I don't think any are in the top 30.

Other than German cars and Volvos (a few Minis and Jaguars) you'd be hard pressed to find any mainstream European cars here.
Suzuki and Mitsubishi both suck these days....

Yes. I am going the opposite direction - from sedan to coupe. The new Mustang GT. Very affordable price too. I have never been an SUV guy as I enjoy driving through curvy scenic highways.

Well you'd be surprised how driving a SUV wins you over quickly. Even driving a small Rogue can win you over. Must be the cavernous space inside plus the higher ride height.

Same types of cars or even worse are being built and sold in Pakistan at exorbitant prices.

What a fascinating insight into the psychology of the US car market! Thank you for that. Does this mean we all should be "impressed" with Toyota Prius drivers here and Mehran drivers in Pakistan? :D

Reliability isn't everything. If you watched the video you would see that its just a crap car
This one maybe crap but the Lancer in US is pretty good. I know the interiors suck and there aren't many features like it's competition but they run forever. My friend uses a 2000 Mitsubishi Gallant with 240k miles and it runs without a hitch

So today Doug called out India as one of his significant viewer markets.
