The Middle East blanketed in Snow

I would advise you to wait, until things calm down a little bit before such visit. You probably should wait until March or April because by then Egypt would have a new Constitution, new elected Parliament, and a new elected president. It is relatively safe now, but i think you would enjoy your visit more then.

My travels won't bring me there untill late summer at the very least. Possibly early fall. I appreciate your advisement though :)

Thanks for sharing all the pictures everyone. its amazing, I never associated snow with this part of the world. So to see it like this is a real treat for me!

Well, believe it or not but there have been snowfall in the mountains of UAE a few times every 10 years or so.

NCMS puts snow on forecast for UAE mountains: Click for where - Emirates 24/7

But there is nothing special about snow at all. Personally I dislike snow and cold weather unless I am in mountainous regions.
Thanks for the link.
I am anaemic and i too hate winters.
But I have experienced extreme seasons except snow.Somehow I just missed it everytime it snowed even when it snowed in srinagar.(Kashmir)
Btw this year I went to a place in Oman where it snows, our local friend had shown us some pics and that place is beautiful,I guess its called Jabal akhtar.(or something to that effect)

You are welcome. Well, I just dislike cold weather. A lot actually. If you tried to live in cold climates as I have done for quite some time now then you would probably also miss warm weather. Snow in particular is a annoyance unless you are skiing or living in the mountains.

I did not know that there is regular snowfall in Oman. It is a very beautiful country. One of the gems of the Arabian Peninsula. Breathtaking beaches, among the best in the world, mountains, beautiful natural landscapes, beautiful deserts, tropical areas (Salalah) etc. If I was an expatriate I would rather want to live in Oman than UAE despite the latter being much more cosmopolitan, international and the pay is probably also better. Just my opinion.

Many people are suffering due to the heavy amount of snow this year. Some places it is the highest amount of snow seen in 50-100 years. I hope the families of everyone are alright and that they will endure this tough winter.

Infact I do.I go to India during the monsoons and I miss the summers of UAE.Though once back in UAE i miss the rains.Sounds crazy I know.

Though I have experienced -2degrees inside Ski Dubai.I am hoping you know that we've a little snow theme park in Dubai inside emirates mall.I was there for good 4hours with my family members (almost10-12 of us) And we really enjoyed ourselves there. So that should be a reason why I associate fun with snow.

I've been to salalah. And it was a road trip from Abu dhabi to salalah (with a night halt in muscat).Salalah is a beautiful place. But the road to get there is deserted...you wont even see a spec of grass or even a bush for kilometers....not even gas stations.Lol.
Oman is a beautiful country no doubt but somehow I like UAE more. You are right the pay scale in UAE is much higher. And on a weekend Dubai and fun are just 1.5hours away for me.I have a lot of family members living in UAE(who have been living here for over 20years now) ,its like a home away from home for me.So to me UAE is more special.:-)

Actually there are monsoon rains in Yemen, Oman and parts of KSA so you don't need to cross the Arabian Sea to witness them in India. Although they are probably more powerful in India. I know that India is one of the most hot and humid places on earth if you exclude the Himalaya regions in the extreme north. Where are you from in India if I may ask?

So you have lived long in the UAE? I thought that you were a new arrival.:)

Yes, I heard about that, LOL. Not visited though and doubt I ever will.:D
That is because you are driving past the southern parts of the Rub' al-khali. But it depends which route you choose. You can take the coastal route which is amazing and full of mountains and amazing coastlines. All the way to Dhofar.

Well, if you have lived in UAE for such a long time then you indeed feel at home I imagine.:)
