It's based on a very successful book of the same name written by Yann Martel.I don't know much else about it except that the tiger is a Bengal tiger and the boy is Indian .

Watched it on Thursday - stunning visuals. The first 10-15 mins covered Pondicherry and the dialogues were in Tamil and the songtrack was in tamil. Liked it but 2 hours is too much of a stretch but understood that the book had all these details(though did not read the book).

Hollywood has been in love with India since Slumdog. I do not see how it is destructive....
