The Legacy of Mao Zedong is Mass Murder

That's a bit harsh. I think China has been pretty lucky so far. Unlike the other countries that dabbled with communism, its leaders at least tried to make things better instead of just lining their pockets. I'm sure there were corrupt people in the party but at least as a whole they tried to make things better and they've succeeded to a large extent. They could easily gone the Cuba or North Korea way or collapsed like the USSR. A single party system is perfect as long as that party is looking out for the best interests of its people, be it a king, a dictator or whoever. However, we all know from history that every king eventually has a idiot son who's stupidity ends the empire. That's where democracy come in. It allows the people to change the leadership without bloody revolutions and wars that can set a country back decades. Now I know you thing of India as "shithole" country and you may be right to an extent. However, each nation has to choose its own path to its bliss. Trying to force a system on people with the expection that they will adapt to it, hasn't worked too well in human history.

China is very different from other communist countries due to the fact that China's communism is very unique, can not be really called communism judged by communists from other countries ,by and large, China's current system is nowhere to be found in any history books, we should have a new name for that. maybe that can be a popular new system in the future. besides, China is one party system but within the party,it's very democratic, only the best and most capable and experienced ones can climb to the top, the party strictly forbids hereditary system, and it also has draconian law that a leadership can only serve 2 terms. China doesn't have family dynasty politics which is so common in India.

You see a lot of Gandhis in Indian politics, but you see no Maos , PRC has never been ruled by a family

finally you got it. get rid of the communist name and symbol because the world doesn't like it anymore. get a name like 'patriotic nationalist party of china' and people will stop calling your communists. learn from russia, see how putin uses references to czarist russia instead of communist soviet while confronting ukraine because he is smart and he knows it is better to be called czarist russian empire than soviet communist empire. you got to feed people what they want to eat. learn from restaurant business, see, they make and sell the dishes which customers mostly like to buy.

we live for ourselves and die for ourselves, I dont know if Indians live and die for Gantt family or Sophia

what do you mean by 'ourselves' ?

Let them do that slowly. Because changing political system in a country can cause a massive destabilization. Even in my country, Indonesia, changing from dictatorship to today democracy country cause some instability. Luckily, we can went through the hell and become better in our political system.

i said at least they can change the name without changing the system. every system changes over time and their system will also change whether they want to change or not. what i am saying is that they should change the name so that today as cnn says "communist regime of china", tomorrow, it will be forced to say, "patriotic regime of china"

but you see, there is nothing wrong in being patriotic and nationalist, rather people actually respect patriotic and nationalist people. but when you say "i am communist" no matter how good or bad you are, people will take you as a villain. therefore, communist names and symbols are not welcome in today's world.

a smart guy always changes color like a chameleon. a smart guy always back stabs and plays double cross. this is how one has to survive in this world full of wolves. a democratic system teaches its people how to be a cunning guy. a totalitarian system teaches its people how to be a dolt guy.

this is why indians are smarter than chinese.

in a democratic system, a leader needs to be skilled and talented because he faces competition. in an authoritarian system a leader can afford to be a naive and dolt guy because there is not competition. without competition, a society gets stagnant. but competition makes a society vibrant. necessity is the mother of invention, and so if there is no necessity, you don't feel the compulsion to invent your skills and talent.

How come you can't see it. this leadership took over the country from old revolutionaries, their very legitimacy of ruling this country hinges on this name. Even what they are doing is completely opposite to what their predessesors fought for,as long as they hold on to this name, they hold the legitimacy to rule. understood by now?

Chinese system changes as the conditions change. However, it is not something left to the course of arbitrary events. It is a regulated and controlled one. On the other, rigid systems, be it democracy like today's India or communism like today's North Korea, can hardly be changed without causing major destruction. China has its own way of regulating its own socio-political and economic evolution. I guess it is not a concern today for majority Chinese that others find their system to be sounding not so cool. We do not give a damn what CNN or Indians think or believe.

China does not do stuff to please outsiders when it comes to its core interests or ways of thinking. Besides, General Motors happens to be just as happy to sink 14 billion USD in this communist country over the next five years. Over the past sixty years, whatever China has done, it is because it wanted it to be that way.

Yeah, and the whole world is amazed at how the chameleon Indians are solving their structural problems with the snap of the fingers. And I see stupid Chinese the entrepreneur being beaten on a daily basis by the superior Indian counterpart.

Ah yes, and India is a prime example of an ever thriving, non-stagnant democratic society while China has not developed a bit since it declared itself a People's Republic.

Are wittingly playing moron to defame the rest of Indian members here?

All the blasphemy talks about Mao's crimes to the Chinese people coming from the West and Indians is truly astounding.
The guy who is responsible for the dozens of millions of deaths in China, the greatest dictator in history worse than Stalin or Hitler. This kind of opinion is all over the place on the Internet and shall never stop. :cheesy:

It seems to me these people think they are Chinese, or China is their country so they have the right to condemn Mao. They think they have the right to tell China to become a Democratic governing system, knows what's best for China. These people are sick in their heads

Mao's biggest "sin" is that he has prevented the foreign invaders to colonize China.

Now with China's thriving power, they will not stop cursing him.

. .
he was more of a patriotic nationalist and less of a communist, thats a fact

His communist ideology was only used to serve the goal to rebuild China, but he also supported the sovereignty of others nations, especially those nations who got colonized and oppressed by the western imperialists in the past.

lets talk about today's china, tell me what do the pla officials and troops get to learn during party classes? what do the political commissars teach the soldiers? how could china fail to teach patriotism to hong kongese students?

what do marxs, lenin, stalin etc have do with china? who are these people?

Even Deng praised Mao's leadership and said he made some mistakes in his later years. Which is accurate and not biased at all, the Cultural Revolution did wreck the development and caused unnecessary casualties. But overall Mao's contribution cannot be ignored. He created the foundation, Deng used the stable environment after the crackdown of the gang of four, and made great reform. After he was gone the continuation was left to Jiang and Hu and we can see China's development today. Xi will contribute his reforms and China will enjoy the fruits of it later.

What is the point of criticizing Mao to this day for the famine and Cultural Revolution? What is the point of criticizing the student protest in 1989? It has nothing to do with the Westerners or the Indians in the first place. China is marching forward as we speak, while others are still at their horrible state.

- The commissars still teach the PLA soldiers about the Maoist ideology, it will never change.

- Hong Kong follows the "One Country Two Systems" policy, thus their ideology is different from us.

- Marx and Lenin are both considered as the ideological predecessors of Mao, whereas Stalin is not much of an ideologist like Marx/Engels/Lenin/Mao, but still a great leader for USSR. It was a great mistake for the late Soviet leaders to deny the contributions of Stalin.

interesting

- what is a maoist ideology?
- why can't there be 'one county, one people, one system' ?
- what do marx and lenin serve to china as former ideologues?

- The Maoism is like the expansion pack of the Marx-Leninism, it has added such as the "political power grow out from the barrel of a gun" and fighting against the revisionists (the communist members who want to switch back to capitalism).

- Because China was weak back in the 1980s, so we couldn't demand the rich HK to follow us.

- In China, it is the Marx-Lenin-Maoism, because the Maoism will keep an eye on those potential traitors (the revisionists like Gorbachev and Yeltsin who brought the downfall of the mighty USSR).
