So in a couple of months we will be saying good bye to the decade of the 2010s what a decade of massive political, social and economic changes we have observed for the most part its been gloomy, Color revolutions, Middle Eastern Springs, shift from neo-liberalism in the west to more nationalism, ISIS, China mounting its role in concrete terms through the Belt and Road projects, Russia again trying reassert its role in the world, Turkey becoming more influential in the Islamic world, and Saudi/Iran proxy wars heating up more anyways I am not making this thread about those events I wanna discuss Pakistan in the 2010s and for us to understand in what ways things have changed for better or worse. In 2009 Pakistan was in dire straits, Swat valley was under control of the TTP terrorists, bombings were frequent, investments dried up, it really looked like the end was near when the TTP was just 60 miles from the Capital,MQM was doing dirty stuff as usual in Karachi, target killings all over,Zardari aka Mr.10% in power looting and plundering the worst we seen in Pakistan's history 2010/2011 no better OBL being killed really hurt the reputation further I could write a timeline but thats not my point what has the 2010s in general been for Pakistan and whats the next decade will be like

A short answer: More of the same.

Pakistan has achieved a certain stability of approach to all its problems in security, economy and society. It is not going to change its course substantially in any of these spheres over the next decade.

Interesting prognosis you have so more of the status quo but in terms of the 2010s how would you rate at least some of the improvements and drawbacks

Think we will see a rapid phase of development and economic growth because for the first time in the history of Pak I'm seeing that every discussion is coming back to the economy and how to stand up on our feet and the national narrative is turning towards economic development and prosperity. Pakistan of 2030 would be alot more prosperous than Pak of 2020. Inshallah

Ratings are meaningless. Actual results with tangible data are far more robust IMO. Pakistan's well-demonstrated stability of approach and policies means that past results are a predictor of future results as well.

It will be better, for the first time Pakistan is approaching stability economically and politically; Once that stability is made permanent then the govt can focus fully on growth and developement.

Looking at things now (improved tax ratio, strong foreign policy, Welfare programs inducted), I think we will get to that stage at some point in the 2020's

Pessimistic about the future doesn’t look like we can handle 2020

What are the issues you think will turn heads in the early 2020s

The only thing negative about IK is the old cronies in his team. But its a fact that he cannot remain in power without them.

The only issue woll be economy.

Now thats a global issue. Iwas talking about internal politics. If everything goes as planned only issue is economy. You uplift economy everything falls into place.

A new conflict in Iran will have very very serious for the whole world espacially South Asia which is dependent for oil on ME. It will be worse case scenario for every Govt. and establishment. There will be a refugee crisis and security threats. There is also case of oil supplies and reserves.

Your average Pakistani has the same lifestyle, except things are more expensive, and jobs are harder to come by

Not great but considering the alternative was full blown bankruptcy, I think we should be glad that we chose the right path.

If we have True Muslims in the population and government working together, then yes we will surpass anyone's expectations.
